The more info that is released the more disappointed I become.

Sadly, this team does not seem to know how to bring more fun to this game. IMHO they are listening to the wrong people. I would much rather have had them made the class system more like GW1 in the expansion with multi-classing and some new weapons than bringing in specializations. They seem to want to tell you how to play rather than let you discover how to play. This lack of discovery is why they have such low player retention.

We don’t need to make mandatory gear treadmills, we make all of it optional

Anet lied (where’s the Manifesto now?)

This not GW1. They cant just copy and paste gw1 design into the game. Specializations are gw2 spin on dual classes. The mechanics of the class supposed to also change. Giving each class a fresh new feel.

how in the name of the fissure of woe could you have expected GW1 style multiclassing? Yes, if I expect to have won the lottery big time tomorrow I can already see how this is going to be a very disappointing day.

Not only, Like 80% of GW1 conbos were objectively bad and a balance nightmare: i would never have that system again here.

even i’m sick of hearing this whine about ‘this isn’t GW1’ and ‘why can’t we have X like in GW1’ and i’ve been around since prophecies. This isn’t the tyria you remember. a lot can change over 200 years. 200 years ago we didn’t have computers, internet, or any of the nice stuff we take for granted today.

Pretty much everyone i left with in guild wars didn’t like the next game when they heard it would be 200 years later because that meant leaving their characters behind. it meant getting to know a completely new and alien system, one that was drastically different from the first game. Anet wanted to try something new – some have succeeded while others have failed – but they have done their job pretty well i’d say.

but that doesn’t mean ‘leave the old game completely behind.’ a lot of the stuff you are seeing was inspired by the first game – specializations as a spin on dual classes, strongholds being a spin off of GvG, and so much more. so all in all, i’d say it’s time to either move on or stay in GW1.

TL;DR this is not GW1. This is a sequel in a changed tyria, where a lot happened in a short span of time. DWI
