Bonus Weekends in GW2?
Well, there is lots of boosters and banners and stuff for extra XP. Also, the Dailies in the 3 new maps give a lot of XP for the HoT Masteries.
There was, once, a Bonus XP weekend in GW2.

Good luck.
There are bonus weekends. It just so happens that they always cover the PvP part of the game (the call of the mists buff is exactly what you were asking about).
PvE has so many xp buffs available, that no such bonus weekend for it is needed.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
but the meta events from my experience over the past 3 weeks are kitten near impossible to complete for whatever reason not enough people or they don’t know or care.

I can tell you that the meta events on ALL of the maps are done every day on multiple overflows at all times of the day.
BUT you generally need to use LFG and then taxi into the map. Also note the event timers: http://gw2.ninja/timer
Start looking for a taxi in lfg 10-15 min. before nightfall in VB, 10-15 min. before challenges in AB. 10-15 min before prep in TD and 10-15 min before start of DS. If no lfg is up, wait a few min and look again
For bonus weekends you need something to bonus. What could PvE have to bonus that isn’t already taken care of by boosters, food, banners, guild boosts, nutrition, crystals, etc…
ANet may give it to you.
And if your XP is maxed out and don’t raid, your XP bar is never going to move again no matter how many boosters you apply, (or booster weekends per your suggestion) until you attempt what Anet requires you do (if you want to unlock the XP bar progress).
I’ve made a choice not to raid, so XP progress is one area of the game that I don’t experience any more unless I start a new toon.

Yes in one of the regions (hot expansion zones) you should however still gain exp in core tyria mate.
I don’t think you do, Linken. Not unless you’ve maxed out your masteries anyway, then you get XP again.

I know you do since I maxed out my tyria side but havent maxed out my hot one.
Edit
So no you dont need to raid for the tyria side spirit shard.
Oh cool, I haven’t maxed out my fractal masteries yet I’ll have to do that

My bar doesn’t fill/progress in tyria either. But that likely because I need 8 more mastery points to unlock auto loot. Mastery points that I will not bother with after looking at whats left to complete to get them. Should never have used them to unlock legendary crafting before unlocking auto loot. Regardless no XP bar progression for me.

They once (Around HoT launch) gave a boost to every single Experience source (even including events and mining nodes). It’s the only time it ever lasted. I think it was just before the launch of new boosters (perhaps test them?). After that it never happened again.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
If Anet expects us to use the LFG tool to find regular PvE content, they should put some kind of hint or UI indicator in the game. This is very counter-intuitive to anyone who has played any other MMO and expects to simply go to an area and play.
I like to think of the wvw bonus as the bonus xp weekend, except it applies to a lot more than XP.
I don’t know. The last 2 weeks have been lunar new year, which give a bonus to magic find. That’s a lot better than a weekend.
I agree than can have more of these though.
On the other hand, with boosters in the game, I don’t find much problem getting XP boosts all the time, and there’s food for karma and such as well.
In fact, there are a lot of ways you can boost your karma, such as the karmic retribution buffs from some of the new zones.
