Boon duration in HoT?
The current plans as we know it will certainly have adverse effects on Boon (and condi) duration. Right now we only have “Givers” stats for gear on boon duration and well, it’s terrible with 1% per piece. Bumping that to 10% would be interesting.
I am very curious on their plans, whether they intend to give us options to get it back, or if they’re purposefully putting a damper on that stuff to make it harder to maintain. Boon duration I think we’ll be fine if we more properly take advantage of said boons and the tools we have to deal with them. Condi duration I’m more worried as it’s already behind Power damage and taking potentially 30% off the top will certainly set it back a few steps.
Also concerned about the class-specific recharges getting halved… Hope there are plans to address this.

Half the class-specific bonus has been made baseline, the other half you get when taking the related specialization (arcana, beastmastery and so on).

Somehow I had missed that… feel a bit silly now. But thanks.
I really relied on that boon duration from traits on some classes.
It was extremely powerful.
I am also really curious what ANET has planned for this. I have maxed Virtues on my guardian for the boon duration. I know there is a +20% boon duration trait when wielding staff in the plans, but I am hoping to not be forced to use a specific weapon to obtain something similar to what I used to have (which was +30% boon duratin for maxing virtues line, usable with any weapon).
I’m not looking for a perfect carbon copy, I don’t mind losing some boon duration and whatnot, and I really love the new trait system. Perhaps the missing link here is gear? I use cleric set. I could use giver’s but there is no ascended version of giver’s and the 1% per piece of gear is a bit too small.
The most I’ve seen was the +15% on the relevant trait lines, usually as the minor Grandmaster (fifth) in the line. I’m used to getting +30%, and to do less would cripple support builds quite a bit, unless the other 15% is made baseline for the trait line or class.

Unlike the class specific tools, I don’t think they would put 15% boon duration into the baseline of every single class.
Following their own logic, of how stats are being moved off traits and onto gear, it seems to me they need to update the giver’s the way they are updating the other armor sets and perhaps offer the ascended variety.
I like both Boon and Condition but I think people should never have 100% Boon or 100% Condition Duration. Both of these duration should be balanced at the base line not when you hit 100%. Both of these things don’t make the game more fun to play but it makes those skills weaker or stronger than it should.
For what it’s worth, my character was balanced around +50% Boon duration, not 100%. Though without the trait line offering boon duration, I will be brought down to +20%.
Hope not.
getting rid of +boon & +condi from trait lines was the right thing to do, i hope they keep it that way even for gear.
That is not fair Juba for people who invested into those stats or want to going forward! Boon duration is a legitimate minor stat; it deserves as much love as any other stat like power, and if you don’t like it you can stuff it. The concerns here are very real, and unless they remove these lines entirely they had better have their own armor buffs that are fair! Life is about diversity; a boon build shouldn’t get hate any more than power or condi should.
