Yes I know that now, just didn’t read it properly, my fault.

You could submit a request to the CS Team and ask if it is possible to refund your copy and then purchase the UE.

Nah I won’t bother, it’s just a pity you can’t upgrade to the Ultimate edition, more cash for Arenanet, don’t really see the logic behind that one.

Because you would be buying gems at a discounted rate for gems. That’s the only difference between the deluxe and ultimate. If you want discounted gems, you can try to find gem cards on sale.

Just to answer you point about not seeing the logic.

Imagine that they did offer two different versions on the Gem store. Deluxe costs 2000 gems and includes the deluxe edition items, Ultimate, costs 4000 gems and includes the deluxe edition items and 4000 gems.

That makes no sense, as it essentially means that anyone who buys 4000 gems (regardless of whether or not they wanted a HoT upgrade) can get the deluxe edition items for free, and then buy whatever they were originally after.

Doubtful that the upgrade will be purchasable with Gems, anyway. It will probably be a cash purchase just like the expansion offered through the Gem Store.

At least for now. It might change a few months after HoT release.

The standard edition will be available in a “boxed copy” version from some authorized retailers. Some of those retailers are engaged in the pre-purchase program. Others are offering a pre-order, which is not the same thing and will not gain the benefits of the actual pre-purchase.

You can upgrade to the Deluxe through the in-game store. The only boxes are Standard.

Starting on June 23, 2015, you will be able to upgrade to Deluxe in the gem store, but the only way to receive the Ultimate edition is to buy it from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game.

So you can get the deluxe upgrade through the gem shop if you bought the basic expansion, like how you can get the digital deluxe upgrade for the core game through the gem shop.

Not sure what it means that you can get the ultimate edition “in-game”. It doesn’t specify if it’s the gem shop nor does it say if you can upgrade to ultimate after buying the basic or deluxe editions of the expansion.

From the looks of things you can’t upgrade to ultimate if you bought the basic or deluxe version. You either just buy that or go without. It also seems like you can’t get the basic expansion through the gem shop, only the deluxe upgrade. It would be nice to get some clear answers on this instead of some vague FAQ.

You can purchase any edition in-game, through the BLTC. But, it is cash only (just as you can purchase Gems through the Gems store), doubtful you will be able to use Gems…as I said, at least at this time.

Edit: I stand corrected. You can now purchase an upgrade for 2400 Gems. Nice option…above and beyond what I would have expected!
