I just watched the Building a Better Centaur presentation (VOD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiFdlYY-GFA) and there are some cool concepts there. I wonder how much of this will be implemented in the game? It would seem that ANet has begun work on this after release of GW2 and they will be implementing some of it into HoT.
So will this mean that new enemies in new zones will be a lot smarter than the old ones? I think it would be great if they could update old enemies (especially in dungeons) to use some of these new AI features.
I think that one of the main causes of zerker-meta is unchallenging, predictable and exploitable AI. If AI was smarter across the whole game (not just a few new zones), it would certainly encourage more diverse playstyles other than facerolling into enemies. It would be really cool if enemies dodged Pistol Whip instead of just standing in it. And if they have powerful ranged attacks and weak defense and/or melee, they should try to stay at range. It would make the game a lot more fun to play.
Do we know anything about the scope of AI changes in both HoT content and old content?

Aside from that presentation, we don’t have any information. I hope that they implement it in most(if not all) areas in the game.
