im playing at the moment Guild Wars 2 without the Addon and I wanted to buy this game for a friend. Now I wanted to ask if I should buy him HoT instead of just GW2? Can he play the full game? Why I should buy only GW2?

HoT comes with the original game as a bonus for new or free-to-play accounts.

Purchasing Heart of Thorns includes the base game Guild Wars 2. I’m not sure how easy it is to find a copy of core Guild Wars 2, anymore.

Are you referring to the Play4Free version? That has many restrictions compared to a paid account.

As I said, Heart of Thorns includes the base game, Guild Wars 2. Thus, if purchasing, it would be a waste to only purchase Guild Wars 2, if you can find a copy of the game.

yeah but my friend is playing the trial, now i buy HoT for him, he cant just give the key in and its full game?

because he has very lowe internet connection it will take days to download full game?

if he’s playing the free version, he doesn’t need to download anything. it’s already in the data files, no matter what version you are playing.

putting the key on his game will unlock features, no additional download needed.

Indeed. The CD Key merely unlocks all the features. Everyone’s .dat file is up-to-date, no matter the version.

If he took america server is there a difference between eu and us keys?

You can purchase a CD Key and send it to him. He needs to add it to his account by upgrading.

Yes, there are differences between NA and EU CD Keys. His key should match his account, which has nothing to do with which server he chose. Upgraded Play4Free accounts get one free server transfer, as well (at creation/upgrade, I believe).
