I want to buy my friend who living in Russia the expansion. He has been playing GW2 now for near 3 years on the EU servers. I play with him from the States. But trying to find a way to officially buy it for him to avoid a lot of these issues that some have when buying from 3rd party sellers. He says he can’t use Paypal. So I can’t gift him the money for it. A lot of the authorized sellers listed on the GW2 website says can’t sell to Russia. I know some say that you can buy the game and gift the authorization code. But if I buy from a US seller. I don’t know or think it would work on the EU version of the game. It’s very confusing! And he really wants to continue playing this game! What to do?

The EU and NA versions are the same. As long as the code is valid, it does not matter. Easiest and guaranteed safest way is to buy it from Anet directly and e-mail the code to your friend.

Ok since you play with him on eu servers on your na keyed account why should he be able to use a na code to continue to play with you?

I’m trying to make sure that the code are specific to regions. With him in Russia playing on a EU copy of the game. I want to know for sure that I don’t need to buy the EU version of HOT. I thought about sending him the money via Paypal. But he says he can’t use it. It’s just very confusing. It sucks that Anet can’t make a easy way for people to gift the game if they want.
