I was wondering if area net would consider adding a perk to existing players who purchase HoT to allow us to change display names (once)?

One reason I’m asking is, I got GW2 for $60 and its expansion is $70 (basic edition and after conversions), so I’m kinda hoping for a little extra something :P

From what I understand, originally not changing display names was to prevent people from harassing others, but now anyone can just make a free account each time they’re blocked.

I believe the rationale was that they wanted accounts to have a reputation that couldn’t be easily escaped. The idea is that people would be less likely to engage in certain types of anti-social behavior if it was easier for them to be recognized, regardless of character name. Harassment is just one type of such behavior.

Further, they already gave veterans an extra character slot for pre-purchasing. I don’t think they are going to retroactively offer another freebie for folks who buy now (and imagine the outcry if they didn’t offer it to pre-purchase customers).
