Guild Wars 2

So i bought the first game, the Core Guild Wars 2, and now they are launching the Expansion. So my little question is: Do i have to also pay for the expansion now?

What if i can’t, i can’t play at all or just the new content will not be available?

If they address the concerns and do something reasonable, I will pre-purchase. If they don’t, I’m not giving them a free loan and I will buy at the last moment.

I’ll just wait for a sale or something. Theres going to be so little content anyway, I think. If they slowly release content like the living story you could catch up very fast later on anyway at half the price.

I already bought it and living a happy life unlike other people who are raging and complain. If you don’t want it don’t buy it, it’s that simple. Also this community has gone mad recently, I suggest you stay away from forum and reddit for a while.

The answer is there will be content such as elite specializations, the new Revenant and new zone that will not be accessible (as well as bunch of other stuff) but other things like mastery system, stronghold pvp, new WvW map and so on will be available to core only players (as well as everything u currently get with core game)

yeah honestly me and my friends are not getting hot now we don’t want to pay for something we already have and quite frankly it’s really unfair so

No basic pack at $35, no me.
I refuse to partly pay a second time for what I already own.
Anet is not telling you how many zones are in because they darn well know it isn’t worth it and you would not buy it if you knew.
So go ahead be the clean carpet you are and allow Anet to wipe their dirty feet on you anyway they see fit.
I’ll buy it when it’s 10 bucks.
I hope you all have fun for only one month with your 5 to 7 zones.

Since people fail at reading I’ll answer the OPs question and request this thread to be locked.

You need the expansion in order to play the HoT content excluding the new WvW map and a couple quality of life fixes. So if you wish to play in the Jungle and play any of the new specializations you must have Heart of Thorns.

If you do not have HoT you will only be able to play new content that is added to areas you’re able to access. Examples being: Halloween, Wintersday etc. Providing both events take place in LA or DR.
