Buying the game early =! early access
You haven’t been around for many MMO expansion releases, have you?
Heart of Thorns is considered one of the best and smoothest MMO releases in recent history (just check online). It’s very difficult to test and release an MMO and an MMO’s expansions and Anet has actually done really good job with Heart of Thorns in this regard. Almost all other MMO’s have way worse problems on launch day give the developers a chance to fix all the bugs many have already been addressed.
The only reason HoT launch was smooth is because the sales were really below the expectations of ANet…
Not enough players to hamper the servers…

^ This.
HoT is easily one of the highest quality/smoothest launches for just about any MMO in a long time.
Complain about the grind for hero points or any other decision the devs made that you disagree about if you want, but there’s really no argument to say that this launch was excessively buggy or unpolished.
Its difficult to judge relative numbers of bugs, have I seen some, sure… have I seen more than other MMO releases? Not realy. Overall I wouldnt expect to get all $50 worth of play in 4 days, I hope to be playing for the next 2 years (assuming Anet dont ban me for saying they are not perfect on the Forums, actualy quite likley the way things are going).
The only reason HoT launch was smooth is because the sales were really below the expectations of ANet…
Not enough players to hamper the servers…
Do you have anything to back that up?

Of course he does, he works for Anet or has inside information.
What you thought his biased opinions was used as facts….come on

The number of bugs and glitches has been easily tolerable. I’ve only run into a couple that were anything but a nuisance.
I’m genuinely curious.
They refused to beta test 90% of the dlc in order to scam more customers. Instead, they relied on their outsourced QA, known for doing an average job at best. That’s the result.

Well seeing as it’s overwhelmingly considered an exceptionally technically sound launch, that seems to have been a good decision.

Kinda hard not to get a Sound launch when no one is playing the game and flooding the servers like other games…
And yes EA is the perfect label for this dlc half the stuff is not even there yet

I can guarantee you that no one who has the information on HoT sales will release that information, especially on the forums. GW2 is ran by a publicly owned company and things like sales have a huge impact to shareholders and investors.
What you’re seeing here is another generic bitter forum troll who’s just trying to pass on their bad day to someone else.
People like this will make any excuse to justify their own self pity or grudges. If GW2 had a rough launch, people would say it’s because the devs did a terrible job and launched a bad expansion. When it actually launches smoothly and has frequent and immediate updates to any problems, people say that it’s because the game isn’t popular enough.
Basically, there’s always an excuse from people that rely on them.

Well, I suspect the betas were considered the “early access.” That being said; “Is not equal to” is usually written “!=.”

Like all the topics on megaserver being broken ? well why no word at all on Anet about it ? maybe it’s not broken and there is just so few ppl who like h.o.t zones that there are empty ..
Or it might just be that it’s Tuesday morning, not remotely peak time.
Or more likely a combination of that and the following factors:
Limited Seasonal Event
People rushing CoF to get in on the gravy train before Anet addresses it.
People just happening to prefer doing some of the old Tyria mastery rewards
People prioritizing story content
People leveling their Revenants from 1/20/30(depending on what xp scrolls they have access to)
People actually using LFG tool

No just the normal “my sneering assumptions are facts” attitude so common round here.

At lest we have post on ppl complaining of empty zones on peak times

Same can be said to you
As a person who bought HoT, I can’t say I played much there yet, as I been focus on the Halloween fun. Though from what I did with my partner in Verdant Brink, been fun, and pretty much went good. Gliding is pretty fun and I do not think I saw any bugs that was noticeable.
90% of the bugs? What are you doing reading the bug forums then going and trying the same thing. Besides a crash here or there I have not experienced any game crippling bugs. Go play another MMO at release, oh wait those games crash for the first few days.

And that can be becouse the 1-5 maps are full already so they cant get into it aswell, not that there is only 1 map shard up at this time.

The maps not feeling full may be partly due to how the maps are set up. The footprint is big. Compare it to close by Brisbane, it’s bigger than that. Combine multi layers and short lines of sight and there can be a full map and you won’t see them. Running across Brisbane, for example, you’ll see people in that line of run. Run across Verdant Brinks and all the people in that line who are above and below you are invisible to you.
ANet may give it to you.

I have also been exclusively in the halloween zones, HoT can wait. Also just because someone ended up in an empty zone doesn’t mean there aren’t countless others full to capacity that you just draw the short stick on starting a new one. It happens.

Do you have the details/numbers on how many people logged in for the launch?
(Hint: the answer is no, but you like to make stupid comments anyways.)

Exactly, I took a break for a few months, coming back and after a few goes I thought the Silver wastes were dead, I was about to give up on them when someone on the map mentioned there was another map l looking for members and told me about the LFG taxi stuff, then I realised I was just unlucky and being put in new, empty zones and that there were loads of Silverwastes instances where people were playing.
Once people get their exploration done the same things will happen here.

Which opinions? I haven’t actually expressed any, nor have I said anything about sales, I just warned against making assumptions. Assuming something is true because that would back up whatever you believe to be true is a bad idea.
You may wish to look up the mega server system, it may explain those empty zones.

People reading about the mega server system is not going to happen with an extremely biased outlook.
By the way Valky, you have a thread of 20+ out of the whole player base of GW2 claiming empty maps on peak times. I don’t think that is enough information to accurately judge the games health….

It’s the year 2015
All video games are like that aside a select few brands as no game launches complete or even playable half the time until the wave of post release patches. GW2 is no different in that regard as that’s just the way the game industry works now a days.
Megaserver is the excuse of some people that do not want to face the fact that maps are empty because there is not enough people in-game to fill them.

Sales have been so below ANet expectations that they will introduce changes to the expansion and will sell it with discount in 6 weeks.
Refunds are not helping either…

It’s hilarious that people are still trying to convince themselves that GW2 is a dead game.
While I’ve no solid proof I think we’ll see a report somewhere after the end of the year saying that the combination of F2P and HoT release has been a resounding success.
If you think there was no spike in players on launch day you are a fool. Even if the players decided they didn’t like it and never touched it again there was still a huge spike in on their servers and they handled it exceptionally well. They’ve spoken about some issues with the megaservers not allow enough people into maps.
Considering the notorious launches most MMO’s have this one has been nothing but remarkable.

No.
You haven’t shown any proof. If you’re referring to the change to 250, then that only shows that ANet is willing to change if enough people are unhappy about a game feature and if after reconsidering, they decide their customers had a point.
ANet may give it to you.

Just as stated above, you did not prove that your claim of sales are below Anet expectations since you are not previewed to information that the company has not shown.
I waited 10 hours in a queue to play Archeage. Disconnects were common, and forced another multi-hour queue to get back in. HoT is great.

I have a feeling there’s plenty of people here who have never had to wait on a queue to log into a MMO before. =P

This really was an amazing launch for an mmo. No server downtime, I had no crashes at all.
Bugs should be expected. When 50 anet employees play it and it works ok that’s kinda normal, when a million people come flooding in issues are going to be found
