Guild Wars 2

Hey all.

I am interested in getting the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns DLC but I already have the base game and was wondering if i can just buy the Heart of Thorns DLC and not need to buy the Guild Wars 2 game again.

You’re not buying the base game again. The free core game was a bonus offer when the registration key was applied to a new account to assist new player in getting into the game.

Yes you can. It’s sold through the GW2 website for $50.

I know it’s not at all clear from the way it’s presented but that price is the cost of the expansion, even if nothing else came with it. They’re giving away the base game free to people who don’t already have it, but the expansion costs the same either way.

The base game is being bundled with the expansion for free for new players. They talk about it here in this Twitch Stream. So you are not buying the base game again, it is being given away for free for new customers.

When buying Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns you are actually just paying for the expansion. The base game is also included for free for new players but it is not included in the price. Therefore you are not buying the base game again when buying Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. In case you are not aware yet the base game of Guild Wars 2 has gone free-to-play*.
However whether you consider the price worth the expansion is entirely up to you.
