Haven’t logged in to comment in a long time because I haven’t had a reason to. But nearing the HoT release I am ready to purchase. But…I find myself puzzled about something…

If I understand the pre-purchase options correctly…

• New players who buy HoT also get the core game for free.
• There are no loyalty rewards or discounted upgrades for existing players who already paid for the core game and just need the expansion.
• We pay the same $50, but in return get the expansion only.

This seems odd since most companies offer the upgrade only to people who already have the game. At least, I don’t see a way to buy just the expansion.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to buy the expansion as an upgrade only? And if so, what do I need to do? Is this info in an FAQ somewhere, because I’m not finding it.

PS – I originally paid something like $60 for pre-purchasing the Digital Deluxe core game. I have also purchased hundreds of dollars worth of goodies from the In-game store. So these questions are coming from a long time player who financially supports the game he loves.

Seeming as the thread is located on the third page, and you said that you haven’t logged in to comment in a long time, I won’t go into my usual rant when someone posts a thread like this. Believe me, plenty – and I mean plenty – of people have brought up this same concern.

you aren’t paying monthly fee’s this is how they make up for it, the price isnt even that bad considering what you would have paid in fees by now

I think it’s been stated that if you own the core game and buy HoT, you get a free character expansion slot.

So technically it’s not that you get no discounts, you get a character slot for free.

Yes, you are missing one thing.
Veteran accounts get an extra character slot for pre-purchasing.
Besides, The EXPANSION ITSELF is $50. So even if you only wanted the Expansion it would cost $50.

They just chuck in the core game for free seeing as it is practically free right now.
