So, I got the beta portal, but there is a problem – I temporarily lost access to the e-mail linked to my GW2 account (I don’t have the phone number needed for verification anymore, and I didn’t notice it earlier, since I only use this e-mail for GW2). Since it takes a few business days to reset this, it’ll probably be after the beta that I’ll be able to access this e-mail again.
I wonder, do I absolutely need to check this newsletter mail to participate? Or should I kiss the beta goodbye? >_>

You don’t need access to the email to participate in the upcoming Beta if you received a Portal.
You should have a Beta character slot available soon, if not already. The only information you need from the email is the time the Beta is accessible, which you can glean from the forums, or a quick Google search.
