Q:
Can't get HoT at launch
A:
Not really. You’ll be behind in masteries and thus won’t be raid ready when you first get it, but Halloween will put a damper on a lot of player’s progress (including mine) for the first two weeks. Wintersday won’t be too much longer after that.

^This. HoT will be on the back burner for me till Halloween is finished. I love Halloween in GW/GW2. If, and this is a big if, I get all the achievements and get everything I want, and do all of the GW Halloween quests, then I might start early. But I’ll probably just play Halloween till it’s done. Winters day, yeah I skip that most years. Can’t say.it has the wow factor for me. Wintersday in GW is so much better.

If you don’t care about being behind, it really won’t matter when you get HoT until the living story starts up. Once it does, and assuming they stick with the same schedule and pricing, it’ll cost you 200 gems every 2 weeks you miss.

D: Those daily laurels though. Wintersday doesn’t have the same awesomeness that Halloween does, but I do like doing the dailies and farming Bell Choir.
