Technically Human are “Aliens” of Tyria. They come from another world, leaded by the 6 human gods. So yes, human itself is considered alien.

We currently can’t get the designers/artists to make armors not have major clipping issues (among other problems) with existing races I can’t image what adding another that isn’t just based on humans would do to that situation.

The Lore currently states that everyone is far more powerful than beings were 250 years ago, so it’s not that big of a stretch to say a solution was found.

But for there to be a solution, there first needs to be a problem. In their stoned state, the dwarves are much stronger and more focused than they normally are. Why would they want to become flesh? Why would anyone want them to become flesh?

what would you do if you can not make more of your race but your race is dying out, would you stubborn stay stone and let your race be annihilated or do you find a way to keep your race alive?

i would love to see them return, the whole reason why i got hyped for GW2 is because of the possibility of a playable dwarven race.
there are so many way’s this can be done, from reversing the rite to a group of renegade dwarf’s to even a whole different offspring of dwarfs.

they should be returned, the whole “but it would be like other MMO’s” excuse is BS.
there are plenty of things in GW2 that are exactly like other MMO’s but you don’t see ppl complain about that, this is no different.

P.S. gimli isn’t the only dwarf in middle earth, there are so many that it’s a waste to name them all.
this isn’t the reason why i want dwarfs in the game but i had to state this, the blind obsession of ppl thinking that way is just dumb.

They know they might go extinct but they don’t care. They knew that risk was there even before they initiated the rite.

They already where going extinct, the civil war they where embroiled in had killed so many of them they would never recover. Their time was almost at an end and they decided to go out in the most honorable and by far and away the coolest way i can think of. They forced all the dwarves, ALL the dwarves to unite one last time and face down their greatest foe. The dragon Primordious and the Destroyers. That is the most dwarf thing i can think of. One last stand with the whole entire dwarf race.

All the dwarves. Every single one of them, man, woman, and child. Well, sure.

Except for the ones who weren’t involved in any of that last stand business. Surely by now you know how it goes. Possibilities. Always possibilities. There could be an unknown kingdom of dwarves living in some remote (or not) region of Tyria our characters have never visited, in either the old game or the (still relatively) new one. We’ve just never heard of them. No big whoop. We’d never heard of a lot of things — until one day when we did. And just like that, they’d been there all along.

Once more with feeling: there are always possibilities. Flesh and blood dwarves that are beholden to neither Deldrimor nor Stone Summit could be lurking right over there behind that copse of trees, under that odd looking outcrop of rock, down in that quiet, secluded river valley where no one ever goes, somewhere just out of sight, until such time as something brings them to our attention. Just like the asura. Just like the norn. Just like a bunch of other things that never were, until, suddenly, they were. And then they would become part of the ever-growing, ever-changing lore of Tyria.

Tyria is a large world and there is a possibility that Dwarves exist in other parts. However, if we go to far enough away, I highly doubt the devs would spend time to do Dwarves again. New place? Why not a new race?

This. I would honestly rather see something new over dwarves. Hell i dont like the Largos but i would rather see them be playable as they are unique, different and very much so shrouded in mystery.

No as they would fall to pieces in combat and sink to the bottom in water fights.

I love the dwarfs but I have to admit that I don’t want them as a playable race in GW2. I like that GW2 doesn’t have the traditional fantasy races such as orcs, dwarfs (well, not anymore, except for Ogden) or Elves.

Dwarves, because there’s an original idea in a fantasy mmo.

Original idea and fantasy can’t really happen together, all things have been done before somewhere it is all about presentation, but I really am not interested in the addition of dwarves, but it is anet’s game and they’ll do what they want.

Only way you’re gonna be a dwarf is if they have a Guild Wars 0 Prequel game or something. The Lore has spoken!

Not sure what you mean by “once upon a time”, as in back in GW1? Asura and Norn featured there so they were around 250 years before now.

What is meant is that Asura, Norn and Sylvari were only introduced in the Guild Wars universe so that they could be playable in GW2. All 3 of them were introduced in Eye of the North (though Sylvari only through a cutscene) and Eye of the North was only released as a prelude to GW2. Therefore, the reasoning goes, when Arenanet decides they want to make a race playable they can just create the narrative neccesary for making that race playable, even if that narrative wasn’t there before.

However, I would personally argue that doing so is easier with races that have either no story at all yet (as was the case with Norn, Asura and Sylvari before EotN) or have relatively little story (as is the case with Tengu and Largos) than with races which have relatively more story, especially if that story is presently negative for those races (as in the case of the dwarves).

Once upon a time as in prior to the release of the Eye of the North expansion.

Most likely not going to happen. Since many personal story quests are done by race they are not going to waste time creating a bunch of race specific story quests when it doesn’t create much value.

Alternatively they could create the race with less or no personal story quests aside from the shared faction quests but then people may complain that.

Personally I’d rather play the Kodan. They are much more lore friendly and makes sense.

I admire your intention, but the execution lacks style.

The most common thing where those two criteria go hand in hand are in gymnastics. Sadly due to the physical appearances of dwarves, they are not able to perform such thing as gymnastics, or at least excel at it. So when you are judging me by this, it is not much more than stating the obvious
