Can we please address the issue of aegis ruining screenshots and guardians looks in general?

When i saw this pic i didn’t know if i laughed or cried. They showcased the unique piece of arm equipment of guardians and it ends up being kittenblocked by aegis. This gotta be a huge joke.

Please, let us enable a toggle to disable aegis showing or something. Make it only appear if you are in combat. Or change how the effect looks to be less obnoxious

Take my YES! I was thinking about this again, then I saw your post and I’m glad someone talk about it. I hate it more and more because it’s ruining every skin i add to my guardian.

Not to mention how it clips with dozens of shields.
As a class who uses them a lot it is kind of a bummer (more so, as I have to allready acount for gauntlet clipping)

I loved my Lionsguard Shield, but the clipping with the Aegis was just annoying.

retaliation is not so big. It is more subdued, but I get where you are coming from

I like Aegis Effect, Sue me… Reminds me of the Shields in Cabal.
But yeah, it can be intrusive… Maybe we can get some toggle like we have to hide UI, but to hide Boon/Condition Effects. (Like green hue on poison, etc)

I would add retaliation too, but the first reason i find aegis annoying is the fact that the effect is permanent as a guard, you have it no matter you want it or not, it’s here and will be here to destroy the visual of your character (unless you like it), that’s not the probleme with retaliation.

I want to be able to choose to see aegis or not.

My exact opinion right here, except I don’t know what Cabal is. I like my little ethereal shield, if they got rid of it I’d want a shield that looks like it… and worthwhile skills to go with it Mainly it lets me “have a shield” while I use focus. And honestly if I were to use a big kitten sword I’d wear a little shield like that as well, so I’ve always liked it.

The aegis doesn’t ruin that screenshot, it helps show that it’s a guardian wielding a longbow and not just a warrior.

I think the problem with making it in-combat is that it’s used as a visual in PvP so you don’t waste your skills on someone with aegis that will insta block it. You could attack someone before they are in combat and if it only shows in-combat you would lose that visual indication.

I do think it needs to be less obnoxious. It’s huge and very disruptive to screenshots. It also lasts forever so even if you want to wait for it to run off you can’t.

I think I read a comment made by Anet that they were looking into this. It was right after the camera update so my memory is a bit hazy.

I’d be fine if it was larger and more visible… if it was BEHIND my character and didn’t clip with every shield ever. If messaging that I have Aegis up is SO IMPORTANT then why is it all but invisible on Asura Guards and a big blue blob on Norn?

Its ridiculous. To get good clean screen caps of my Guard in any combat stance I have to jump in a pool of water, pop my virtue, , let a fish take my aegis off, and then swim out and get my screenies in the next few seconds.
