Let’s say I choose the specialization for my thief and I don’t like it. The play style required for the specialization is not my cup of tea or whatever. Can I take my thief back to being a regular thief or am I stuck in that specialization forever with that character?

I am pretty sure you can just change back to being a thief once youre out of combat, so I cannot really imagine the specs are going to be very ‘deep’ gameplay aspects, changing s weapon, a utility and maybe one trait line. Switching around quickly just doesnt work without a build saver…

Yes you can, it was stated that if you don’t like the specialization mechanic you can revert at will to the default class.

You can change to normal thief anytime you want.
