Like gathering materials or loot drops that u may salvage etc? Just wondering if I should equip gathering tools/salvage kit etc?

I kinda savaged and forged the Gear from the Beta Gear box not knowing i could change the stats =( can i delete and remake without a problem ?

Nope, you won’t. The bank you send mats to is a duplicate of your normal bank and the items are not transferred.

During the previous betas I was able to delete and re-make characters in the beta slot without a problem.

What Astral said. You can put things in your live bank and they’ll be copied over to your Beta slot but you can’t do the reverse.

It’s a beta character, and we are given a handful of beta boxes with no indication of what’s in them. I popped open just two of them, looking for weapons, and I’m already encumbered.

Could we get some bigger bags and not 15 slot bags, to make it easier to pop open and sift through the beta box contents?

Will they be copied over after the initial creation of the beta character? Or do you just have what you had at that moment?

I’m not sure. From what Colin said on PoI though it sounded like you could create your rev, log onto your live character and place things in your bank, log over to your rev and take the things out. Someone would have to try it out though and sadly I am stuck at work atm

yeh if we lose all the stuff anyway after the beta weekend i dont get why they couldnt give us 20 slot boxes for that time…

It looks like its a one time bank copy made at character creation, I just added items from regular characters and they do not show up on the Rev’s bank.

Might test recreation to see if another copy is made if I delete and generate another Rev later, but I kind of like what I made, pity I can’t keep the design.

You can access a Beta copy of your bank panel and place unwanted stuff in there. Your Beta char can access any of the items. They are not there for your regular chars.

Okay, so according to this thread the bank is not re-copied or restored on recreation, it’s a one time thing

I noticed during the first stress test in the new zones, every time u died or fell, u had to pay wp costs like normal and it’s the same here. So we pay, but can’t keep anything to compensate?

I just went to SW from LA with my beta Rev, then to frostgorge sound from there and those 2 trips cost me around 7s, plus any deaths, you have to pay wp for that as well, that all adds up. Do that for the next several days and you’ll be quite bit out of pocket. IMO, if they gonna charge us for wp while testing a new class or doing beta tests, then they either let us keep the loot and materials we find, or remove the wp costs. Coz i don’t think it should be costing me money for this. After all, I’ve already pre-purchased HoT, i shouldn’t have to keep paying to participate in beta as well.

That’s not your money though, that’s your beta character’s money

Your beta character gets their own copy of your bank and wallet, made when you created your beta character for the first time. Nothing you use or spend from them is actually from your normal storage.

OH ic, tnx i didn’t know that. Darn i wish Anet would explain these things better, they probably do somewhere, but i don’t have time searching all over for every bit of info. maybe a letter in the mail outlining these things would help?

Not from the forge. Each time you remake the beta character you get a new set of dozens of exotics. That would clearly crash the market. But yeah, a mob drop would be pretty crushing.

OMG just saw Peachy get a precursor on her beta character via MF. She was streaming it live and yep, she can’t keep it haha. Shouldn’t be laughing really, it’s kinda sad and ironic. I don’t think i’ll try it coz i’d hated it if finally got one and couldn’t keep it lol.

You don’t gain anything but you don’t lose anything. I’ve used a lot of laurels and globs to get ascended gear, actually fulled my beta rev with ascended stuff, even a back.

Also used a lot of skins and minis I keep in bank to sell later. Even the makeover kit i got from achievements. Nothing wasted

I understand that items which drop for the Revenant (like Weapons or Gold) in the Beta, go away after the Beta ends, and that is fine.

But I wonder:

• Do items that I take out of my bank and use on the Revenant, go back into the bank after the Beta is over?
• Do items that I use on the Revenant during Beta (like Transmutation Charges or Gold) go back on my account when it’s over?

It seems a little unfair for you to drain your account while testing and in the end have less stuff than when you started.

They don’t go back in, they’re basically not taken out at all.

Try it out: take something out of your bank on your revenant, switch to another character and look at the bank: it’ll still be in there and you’ll be able to take it out and use it on another character.

There is at least one thing that you can buy with gold as a Revenant that carries over to your primary account, but I’ve sent in a bug report involving the matter already. Had a great time with the Rev … I look forward to it going live in game. The only thing that spoiled it was that any real time awards like daily and chests for awards are not credited to our accounts.

I understand about upgrading etc. for the Rev char BUT awards had to earned as normal. In EOTM and WVW under very difficult bugs … we persevered as usual … BUT it really is not worth spending time and effort testing Rev as the basic awards are not credited and to me that is simply not efficient or reasonable.

Great armour on the Beta Rev … great hammer skills and again enjoyed Rev … Thanks Anet … shame for me it is all tarnished by ugly bugs and no basic credits awarded. Great game the best on the planet

I enjoy playing around with armour looks etc. I have used 6 or more transmutes on my Rev, so will they be reimbursed after beta? If we cant make money while using a Rev then we’re paying to test it because we’re still paying to use WP’s? This is pretty important and needs to be addressed because it’s fun to play a new class or in the future beta’s explore a new map but if it’s going to cost me and I cant recoup cost while playing this will be my first and last beta event for HoT. For now I’m not too impressed about this (love the Rev though) but will soon be angry if its not rectified.

That’s an excellent thought. I have makeover kits and skins also, but stored on alts. It’s probably too late now that the beta has started and the Beta bank has been created but it’s definitely worth keeping in mind for next time.

Considering that everything you get initially is soulbound (or could easily be), and everything else is from core game, there’s really no reason for that limitation. All this (and guild lockout) accomplishes is that, while i originally wanted to test revenant in some dungeons and fractals, i had to scrap that idea. Not only i’d not get the usual rewards, but i’d have a communication problems with the rest of the guild.
And of course if we rolled an underwater fractal, i’d be a dead weight due to no underwater weapons (honestly, how could you miss that?).

Not going to play Revenant during beta, would be just my luck to loot the precursor I never found yet :/

Yes I tested it with Gold, Consumables, and Transmutation Charges and the Beta account seems to be a snapshot of your normal account upon creation. From that point forward they function fully independently.

I did get the Tequatl ascended treasure in my revenant. I only went there just to fight against the odds and laught if happens and… it happened Lol.

On one hand, I can see why they set it up this way. If people set up their Rev with real ascended gear or real gem store harvesting tools from their real bank and then the char was deleted then it would cause real problems. If ANet makes a beta bank with the “copied” items in it and people put real items they acquired during play in it and then the beta bank is deleted at the end, again there is problems.

However, it still would be nice if we could send harvested mats from our inventory to our real bank. If we do dungeons, we could still get our dungeon tokens, maybe disable the dungeon merchants during the beta for the Revenants.

Having zero means of progression makes it very hard to enjoy playing. There is only so much testing of weapon skills and killing of mobs one can do before it gets boring.

It gave me a chance to gamble at the ecto vendor to see a likely outcome if I spent what I had there…and as I expected out of ecto and lost about 700g and didnt’ even finish the achievement or get all pieces of they forge conduit. LOL. I liked the risk free environment. Dont’ mind losing anything I got from the forge or as drops.

It will (should) be if you do that with your beta character — if you do it with a live character, you are affecting your live account.

Obvious, I know, but well worth making sure everyone is quite clear on that.

Trying out the Revenant under these restrictions is like getting a new car to try out, but then getting told you can only drive it around the block. After a couple of spins around the block, your new car goes back in the garage and you take out your old sedan, and drive away.

I got a colossus on my rev, seems like a massive kick in the guts from Anet to finally get a precursor on a beta toon that’s going to be wiped.

Why can I put stuff in my bank if I’m not able to keep it?
