Something I really wanted to see…

We have all these tables and chairs in the game, yet… after two years, still not able to use them. Some might consider it minor, but back in the mind.. there is a chair, why I cannot sit in it? We have all these taverns to hang out in yet we cannot really fully enjoy it because simple thing as not being able to sit on a chair. It bothers me, bothers me a lot.

Emotes: Here is an area where the game is sorely lacking. Even guild wars 1 had more emotes then Guild Wars 2 and even it barely had any emotes to begin with. Having more emotes to express ourselves through our characters would benefit all players.

These are qualities of life I really want to seem come with the expansion. Having chairs we can sit in while we feast or chat in the Guild Halls? Bring friends our friends to our home instance to sit and chat for a short while before or after our last adventure together? These things could bring a lot to the game, yet not necessarily so complicated.

How about another dance book? Maybe a mastery dedicated to learning emotes (aka, learning expressions from another culture perhaps)? There are a lot of possibilities here that could bring a lot to the game and bring more life to the characters and the world around them.

There are apparently technical limitations preventing them from making universally sittable chairs, per the zillions of threads on the subject over the years.

The best suggestion imo (sorta tooting my own horn since I was one of the suggesters) is to have a toy chair. Y’know, like the pirate sword or chef’s frying pan, it replaces your skills with other abilities, in this case a variety of sitting poses in a summoned chair.

Or else just have a /chair emote that summons a chair and poses you in it in a persistent state.

Couldn’t chairs work like the magic carpet or the flying broom? I’m not sure if those two are considered as toys.

I am desperately hoping that, at some point, we’ll get alternative versions of current emotes so my character doesn’t have to be stuck with stereotypical nonsense just because of gender – in other words; having my kitten female warrior sit like she’s posing for some 50s calendar is kinda off-putting.

This worked really well in COH. There were a truckload of /sit, /lean, /crouch, /prop style animations that let you pretty naturally use the environment despite that environment having no real bind points on chairs.

You had the option of a relaxed, arm-on-the-back sofa /sit, and sure, it looked dumb if you didn’t actually USE it on a bench, sofa, or other such seat, but generally, because so many were avaliable people that wanted to sit, hang, lean on stuff, etc. were able to do so in a mostly plausible looking manner. You had sit anims designed for various styles of chairs, various “moods” of wall leaning and crouching, thematic animations (and even some cash shop sets) and tons where you just pulled out props to mess around with.

If I could get some environmental emotes, say a solid set of maybe 10 sit/lean/crouch animations, I’d probably pay around 800 gems for it. Way more useful and impactful cosmetics than a mail carrier.
