Chak Gerent a bit too weak now?
Would be sad to see it nerfed. The game needs more challenging content. Even raids (with Eternal) are too easy.
No, the game doesn’t need more challenging content, it needs more FUN content. Challenge =/= fun
Thats just your own opinion. For some people the challenge is the fun part. I for one enjoyed it the way it was (after the nuhoch fix, before that it was a bit too much). It wasn’t a guaranteed win, but it was close (with a coordinated group). Now if what op and other say is true, it’ll be just as easy as DS
You guys are really missing the point here. I think we can all agree that a good challenge is fun, but the problem was that Gerent wasn’t challenging. It just had a ridiculous amount of health, requiring everyone in the event to be full-on DPS, and counter-intuitively avoid using CC just to maximize burn time.
Is it too easy now? Maybe. But now anybody can participate, even if they don’t run DPS builds, and it will still be possible to win, as long as nobody screws up the lane mechanics, and you don’t have entire groups wiping to the jelly donut.
People who dont run full DPS builds are a dead weight. Why should people who optimise their equipment be punished with boring encounters just because of some unteachable players? Because lets face it, if you arent running full DPS builds in anywhere in PVE (except niche roles in raids) you are doing it wrong.

If all the people who optimized left, and the unteachable “play how I want kitten you elitists” players were forced to play exclusively with each other, they would never be able to succeed, even after these changes.
Honestly, this is why I advocate that they exclusively move “challenging” and rewarding content into instances and promote better rewards there. Anet wants players to be inclusive, and are doing this by forcing us to carry the players that want to play how they want [who would normally get a boot if they tried to use their build in a dungeon clear].
I’m glad they nerfed it, as it makes the burden that these players bring really minimal, and thus less enmity and anger between the two sides due to the higher success rate. This is how open world should be, save the organizing and DPS checks for instances.
Did anyone read the changes or just complaining? Here….
" Fixed an issue that was causing the chak gerents to scale too aggressively when players joined their lanes"
…. the problem with the original design was that players, especially some pins, started screaming at other players for “scaling it up”. It began making the event toxic. So the Dev’s fixed the scaling issue so the full map population can join in the fight now. As it should have been to begin with.
Why should people who optimise their equipment be punished with boring encounters just because of some unteachable players?
On the flip side of that; why should good players be punished by losing fights they deserved to win because of bad players?
At the end of the day I’d rather the bad players get rewards they don’t deserve than good players be denied rewards they do deserve.

Rewarding the bad players with undeserved rewards will just lower their incentive to optimise their builds and equipment.

Everyone deserves some rewards just for showing up and playing, imo.
Most players have a pretty good idea about optimization, and many disregard it anyway. That info has been completely accessible for a long time now. There’s no big secret to it. From what I’ve seen players don’t really optimize their gear to meet challenges, it’s a mindset you either have or don’t.
Open world content should be adjusted to the lowest common denominator. It’s far less hassle that way.
You already get rewards for showing up and playing, in this case ley line crystals and chak acid. You just do not get the main price if you fail.

They really don’t, you’re overestimating people.
I don’t think he is too weak, we just only managed to get our gerent on scar lane in third phase, very close to the cannon. Barely made it.
gaem not made for mi

It’s impossible to do it with that many. Some people like to do challenging metas with large groups of players (50+). I can also use that statement and suggest if you don’t like challenging content then to bring more people. If you have the max amount then bring more skilled players. I’m pretty sure that last one was going to be your response when I said 11 players wasn’t possible.
Then bring 12 or whatever it is doable and challenging, take out ur gear as well.
You can’t bring more skilled players, open world map doesn’t work that way.
Yeah you can. Instead of having unskilled players (not trying to offend) when you fill the map, you bring skilled ones.
Did you read the patch notes?
Fixed an issue that was causing the chak gerents to scale too aggressively when players joined their lanes.
In this case bringing more players would likely have had the opposite effect …
Was referring to the map itself and not just flooding a lane with people.
Not seeing a difference. More people in the map evenly divided into the same number of lanes should equal to more people per lane.

Which they don’t now.

Yeah you need to be careful to pull it away from the cannon, I was in scar lane and it took a hit.

There’s a difference between having 90 people on a map spread across 4 lanes and 90 people in a single lane.

go back to the now-extinct dungeon meta where you belong.
You just do not get the main price if you fail.
And I don’t get the main prize if someone else fails either.
The Gerent did simply not fit in where it was. Compared to every other HoT Map Meta it was simply ridiculous while beeing connected to “casual” stuff.
I do not have a problem with “hard” events if they are an entirely seperate thing like Triple Trouble. But the balancing of the Gerent event was just kittened for where it ist.
Rewarding the bad players with undeserved rewards will just lower their incentive to optimise their builds and equipment.
I actually doubt that the majority of the player base is “optimising” their builds and equipment in ways you’d like. Does this make the majority of the playerbase “bad”? Do you not see the problem with this? Why balancing something on a minority?
I for example like to play some of my characters with something else than an Zerker build. It is fun for me. Am I not allowed to have fun in your world?

Yeah, those 15 Ley Line Crystals are really worth my time … not. I get more in the same time by doing two adventures or just randomly killing mobs.

I cleared most of the dungeons at release withhout exploiting (!), withhout graveyard zerg and withhout a zerker build in most of my parties. Interestingly enough we mostly failed when we had “too much” Zerkers.
How did you fare?
Seriously, just stop your wannabee elitist crap. There is basically not a single thing in the whole game, which needs everyone to run around in zerker gear except raids. Why should there be ONE event, that isn’t seperated from everything else, requiring that? It makes zero sense and goes against the actual playerbase, of which not all are wannabee elitists.

If you only get 15 ley line crystals while preparing for the chak gerent to arrive you must be doing something wrong.
Another good run, SCAR didn’t do well and the other lanes went to burn their gerent down in phase 3, awesome!
Pretty much. I get like 50 at least if I half tag the 3 events at SCAR before the start and 75 tokens if I go full 100% participation.
Horribly disappointing. I liked the chak gerent before. You promised us at least one difficult world boss Anet. And technically the chak gerent wasn’t even that bad before anyway. It did not need a nerf after the nuhoch lane fix.
And it’s BS to say there shouldn’t be any difficult content in the open world. Most of this game is still very easy. It doesn’t hurt to have some open world content that is somewhat difficult and not completely braindead faceroll. God I hope they add an elite zone one day.
I’m fine with hard world bosses. The problem comes when you locked important items and currencies behind them. Half the new collections required a mass of ley line crystals or a chak gerant kill, so making the event more accessible was a good decision.
