RNG eggs from caches (you can only receive a whole 1 from the PvP track in addition to this) and a huge amount of currency? Earning this amount of currency is one thing but having both requirements? Before people say’ blah blah long terms goals, optional grind’, these costs are on a whole other to other vendors.

That currency drops from Nuhoch Hunting Bags you get from creatures killed in Tangled Depth if you have Nuhoch Hunting. These bags also drop other currencies if they drop from mobs on other maps.

And? That doesn’t make the whole grind absurd.

It’s not absurd. IT goes up pretty quick actually. You also don’t need to have “all of it right now!”. This is far from grind. Were it asian game it would be like 500000 per item XD

1) Not a “grind” if you’re getting the currency from many mobs across the entire zone doing multiple events, multiple things. A “grind” is killing the same mob over and over for a chance of a chance of a chance to get a required item (see Boar Liver quest in original vanilla WoW)

2) You’re not meant to get all these weapons right away instantly. It is a long-term goal to obtain them. You even get them free from the Story Mission in Chapter…um, I think it’s 10 through 13, something like that. So if you bring in a bunch of alt characters to Maguuma and complete those Story Missions through the alts, you can unlock multiple skins.

3) At least there is no ‘gold’ cost to them, which would be a real grind. Gold is a generic grindy currency with no attachment to the purpose of the content obtaining it from. This content is set because you -the player hero- are defeating the enemies of the Nuhoch and they’re rewarding you for such.

Oh boy, not again. Just stop, please, before there’s nothing left to do.

the currency isn’t the issue, its the chak eggs. I’ve open about 25 supply cache and haven’t gotten a single one, unless I’m mistaken and they don’t drop from them.

maybe the problem is people dont yet have a good idea of where the best ways to get those chak eggs are…
if they are extreme rng only as op suggests then that kind of kills the whole point of a map currency based system where you can reliably work towards something even if it takes a while.

I believe its the same three for every profession. sword/pistol/torch? that was for mes and guard i know sword i can’t remember the other too. if its different, which profession had focus? anyone know?

Definitely not the same three. For Revenant it was Sword, Mace, and something else.

It’s almost as if they’re trying to make them hard to get.

Hot has only few weeks, do you really want them to give you everything quick and for free?

No, for engineer it was pistol and shield. I had a hammer equipped.

FYI, if you want the Chak Hammer, it was not an option for me on the Buried in Sight story achievement chest [edit: using a warrior to complete]. :/ My guess is you have to do the story with a Guardian. My only options were axe, mace and sword I believe.

It’s not terribly difficult to get these weapons. Assuming you want a full set for one character, it shouldn’t take more than a week. You get a choice of one for completing Buried Insight (Episode 13 in the HoT story), and there’s also a Chak weapon chest rewarded for the ‘Chak Killer’ achievement which is unlocked after completing Roots of Terror (Episode 11). Basically just kill a kitten ton of chak. A bit time consuming and dull, but simple enough.

It’ll probably be a lot more practical to re-play the story on alts to unlock most these weapons than to buy them.

FYI, my ranger’s choices for the Chak weapon (Sword, Axe, Dagger) were different from the Auric (Longbow, Axe, Warhorn).

The only chak skin I really like is the sword… I’m not a fan of the bio-weapon style of things anyways, so thats great for me xD

These weapons are supposed to be a long term goal, which you can buy eventually. Or do you want all those weapons instantly and even use them?

Auric weapon choices are:

Warrior: Warhorn/Hammer/Mace
Ranger: Longbow/Axe/Torch
Mesmer: Sword/Greatsword/Torch
Guardian: Hammer/Focus/Mace
Necromancer: Staff/Axe/Warhorn
Elementalist: Staff/Scepter/Focus
Thief: Sword/Dagger/Pistol or Sword/Dagger/Shortbow (need confirmation)
Engineer: Rifle/Pistol/Shield
Revenant: Staff/Mace/Sword

The thing is, the cost isn’t absurd for one. It’s not even absurd for all of them together.

But only in the context of those being the only skins you are trying to get. The more skins you are going for in this game, the faster it adds up, until you are looking at basically playing the game until you’re dead to get everything you want.

Thats nothing if you compare that to Surge Rune…. hard to get all 6. because the events are slow and almost non existance.

You can do HoT storyline.

I already got the majority of auric skin because I got so many characters.
