Chalice of Tears Checkpoint feedback
Would be nice if the map closure timer persisted above the mini map so that we can know for sure if a map is still going to be closed and what sort of time we have before it does.
As I understand it, once that map closure timer pops up, that instance is doomed and there’s no keeping it alive. That the timer has the unfortunate tendency to randomly vanish is nonetheless a bug that needs fixing.
Second issue is the losing of the checkpoint progress… that really stung. I realise the reason they are needed is so you can’t just skip the whole thing (unless you have some really awesome mesmers) so my suggestion would be if there was some way to remember the checkpoints had been reached like how the game remembers if you did daily things that day
Since the Silverwastes JP does something like this with a timed character buff, I can only conclude that the way this works for the Chalice of Tears is deliberate. Which is one of the reasons I refuse to do this JP: It’s hard enough as it is, having to fight game mechanics and losing all progress through no fault of mine whatsoever is really poor game design. Doubly so when it is intentional.
When I did CoT the first and only time I DC’ed 3 times trying to get to the top, each time I was around the 5th ceckpoint too. It was extremely frustrating experience.

Not so sure about it. After all, SW worked like this initially as well. I bet this is just the result of usual Anet practice – teams not talking to each other unless they happen to work on the same project.
Should have been fixed long ago, along with the second major problem (being unable to see your checkpoint progress). Unlike in SW, here you can’t see which checkpoint you are on, which, when coupled with the fact that some checkpoints are easy to bypass completely unintentionally, is a real pain. I once made it to the top only to realize that i’ve probably missed the very first checkpoint (the one in the volcano entrance).

my experience shows up that it used to be a case, but apparently it was patched up at a point and map does not close when properly repopulated – or at least – mostly.
regardless of whether timer is up or not if the map is on tiemr to close there is a “leave instance” arrow above the minimap goign shiny – it dissparears when population level gets restored past aforementioned point.

Unfortunately, while it indeed disappears once the map gets repopulated, it does not stop the map from closing. Perhaps that was the intention, but if so, it’s not working. Moreover if someone joins that map after the arrow disappears, they have no way to know that this instance is scheduled to close.

I’d be fine with removing checkpoints all together if they would stop making the JPs so freaking vague. I spent more time in the chalice guessing where to go next than I did actually climbing / having fun. Learn from what you did with the new one in siren’s, that is pure perfection.
