I was thinking about the implication of the ending of S3 and it came to mind that Anet could make separate story lines based on the different races in HoT. Does anyone think there’s a chance of them doing something like, cause it would be nice if it meant something to be charr again?

It would be nice to have some content based on the PC’s race. After all it’s a big part of the identity in a roleplaying game. I would love to see some of the NPC’s from the start of the game. Running around with your krewe as an asura or your with your warband as a charr…sure would be nice.

yeah, as someone who plays Sylvari, it would be kind okittenward * to be running around pretending like the rest of my race isn’t going all ape snot Scarlet on the rest of the world.

I’m kind of curious as to whether the HoT story will be like Living World S1 and take place in the open world, like S2 with instanced play, or will be an actual continuation (finally) of the personal story.

kind okittenward* Is this going to be filtered? Really? The words ‘of’ and ‘awkward’ combined is kittened out? Well kitten!

I’d like to see Revanants getting their own personal story that builds them up as commander of the pact (and introduces them to the bionics) by saving the members of it that’re now all over Maguuma after they went after Mordremoth. Honestly, why people have such narrow minds about what could happen with revanants as far as PS is concerned is beyond me? The stuff with Zhaitan could be ‘these events happened before your character existed’ and still be doable if you chose to activate the original Personal Story like you can switch between it and S2 right now.

Technically it wouldn’t have to be all new either, since up until you go meet the orders it has very little to do with elder dragons. So the new PS could just pick up with new missions to join the orders who send you off to go help the remnants of the pact.

If my Sylvari characters don’t have some arc about dealing with the fact that they’re dragon minions, I will be supremely miffed.

It would be great, and would allow for better overall story telling. However it also means instead of a single story you end up having to make 5, which could lead to 5 average stories instead of 1 good story. So I’m not sure, as long as it doesn’t sacrifice quality.

You don’t really need five completely separate stories, though. S2 handled racial differences quite nicely through dialog options at key points. An asura might get a more complete or slightly different explanation of something in one instance, while a sylvari got additional information in another. A human would demand that Rytlock return the crown when he was done with it, while other races had no dog in that hunt. I thought it was rather cleverly done.

In this case, the story for a sylvari might have to be pretty divergent from the others at certain points, but that shouldn’t have any more effect on the quality than the forks in the existing personal story. All of the order branches were fine, for example, and I don’t think the PS would have been any better if there were no such branches.

ANet has demonstrated that they can do branching properly, and I think it’s going to be important to making HoT what it needs to be for sylvari characters.

well op… if you arent sylvari atm then your race means as much as “woggie woogie” atm…and trust me “woggie woogie” means nothing cause i just pulled that out of my….

One can hope we get a charr season where some items that arent made of plants pop up together with some storyline related to what nonsence the charr are up to…then maybe the same with asura and it actually would be interresting to see what the norn are up to too for once, cause from those guys you hear nothing at all atm.

Of course, there is Rytlock who is obviously going to be a big part of the upcoming storyline (as the first Revenant and the only remaining member of Destiny’s Edge – for now) – and Im guessing Braham/Norn will get more than a little of the story given what just happened to his mother (and the most prominent hero in Norn culture).

I dont really see them neglecting any of the races, even if the focus is a little heavier on the Sylvari (which is understandable given we are heading into a jungle ).
