I pre-purchased Deluxe Edition for HOT when it was announced and currently have 13/13 slots filled. Was the slot already added or will the extra slot be at release?

I have the game since launch and I just bought HoT standard edition. Shouldn’t I see an additional character slot? :/

The veteran appreciation slots are only pushed out once a week now on fridays I think at reset in about 6.5 hours, iirc.

It should have been added at pre-purchase, long ago. As well as an extra slot, if you qualified.

I just pre-purchased HoT at the local electronic store and added the key. Unfortunately the Beta is over, however since I am already owning the core game for 3 years I am supposed to get an additional character slot. When is this added to my account?

Pre-purchasing can only be done on the official website (I’m pretty sure). What you have probably done is pre-ordering, which is something different. Regardless, even if you pre-purchased, it can take up to a week for the slot to be added.

Extra slots get added on Fridays.

Considering we have less than a week to go, you may receive your bonus character slot anytime between now and at release. (They were previously distributed on Fridays.)

hello ive recently bought heart of thorns. I have owned the core since last year and I read that I get a free character slot.
I have yet to receive the character slot though and was wondering how long it usually takes.

Well I was asking because I’ve read that and I wanted to know how long it took some peoples to recieve their free character slot from being a veteran player

The bonus character slots were previously dispersed on Fridays. As launch is less than a week away, you may receive your slot anytime before launch, or at launch. At most, I would guess, by next Friday.

I want to make sure I am understanding the wording of the different HoT packages correctly.

If you buy the Standard HoT, do you get a character slot with that? There is an asterisk stating this on the page.

But it also says you will get an additional character slot with the ultimate edition.

Does this mean if I buy the Standard I will get 1 extra slot and if I buy the Ultimate, I will get 2 extra slots? Or does this mean that both the Standard and Ultimate get only 1 extra slot.

Edit: I bought my fiance the Standard edition today, and he didn’t receive the character slot. Does the extra slot get applied immediately or only at the release day of HoT?

I realize the Ultimate says Additional Character Slot. But what I am trying to have clarification on is based on the wording with the ** which is a link that says when buying the Standard, you get an extra character slot if you bought the base game before the date specified.

My specific question is… if I buy the Ultimate, will that give me 2 character slots…. or will the “Additional Character slot” mentioned in the list be replaced/merged by the extra character slot received from the double asterisk noted bonus that the Standard gets as well?

If you qualify as a veteran, you will get one slot with standard, or two with deluxe / ultimate.

If not a veteran, you’ll get no slots with standard, or one with deluxe / ultimate.

The deluxe / ultimate slot should get applied more or less straight away. The veteran slot will take longer, and typically get applied the friday after you purchase.

Yes it do since do you see the first check box where it say *standard*on the ultimate offer?
That mean you get everything that the standard edition gets ( in this case the veteran character slot.)

And your second question that specific slot was added every friday so your boy should get it at release day.

One thing to bear in mind – the veteran slot is listed as a pre-purchase bonus, so may not be available after the launch on friday.

I pre-ordered HoT myself about 3 weeks ago and I did already recieve my free character slot.

Can’t recall exactly when I got it, but I want to say it was probably at least a week ago. I was thinking it wouldn’t be until after HoT lauch that I get it, but nope. Which is pretty cool.

I bought the regular edition and qualified for the extra slot.

It says that unless you pre-ordered back in July, you won’t get your new slot right away. I did get my new slot about 2 weeks after my order.

I got the standard edition on Friday, had my bonus slot added a few hours later. If you e not had it yet, contact support, the links at the top and bottom of the forum.

I’ve had the core game since shortly after launch and just bought HoT.

I’m hoping to get the extra character slot.

I notice that in order to do so I need to pre-purchase AND register HoT.

Q: How do I register it?

Add the key you have to your account. If you got it in game via BLTC, then it will be added automatically.

ok, a friend and I both got the core package. He got his free slot, and I didn’t. This going off of what I understood if you pre purchase HoT, all accounts get the free slot, correct? I had the beta slots, but they are now gone and I have no extra slots at all.

A physical copy bought in shop CAN get you pre-purchase char slot, but it has to be a shop listen on the ‘verified retailer for pre-purchase’ on Anet site here somewhere. For instance, in Netherlands, one of them is www.bol.com, wich I purchased it from. Took about a week to get my ‘free’ character slot.

I changed my mind and I do want pre-purchase HoT. I remember reading somewhere that veterans players who bought the original gw2 before a certain date would receive a free character slot with the purchase of HoT (base version non delux/ultimate).

Is that still a thing and when would I get the free slot anyone know?

I’m pretty sure there are no Anet endorsed pre-order schemes, only pre-purchase so if the OP got a code to add to their account it’s almost certainly a pre-purchase. If you’ve got the Maguuma Trailblazer title then it was definitely a pre-purchase.

In which case you will get the extra character slot, next Friday at the latest, maybe earlier given that’s release day.

It should still be a thing, I got my free slot instantly.

As long as you do it before Friday, you should get the slot. It took a few days for me to get mine.

I purchased a couple of weeks ago and I have my free slot already..showed up in less than a week.

As stated in many threads, bonus character slots were previously dispersed on Fridays. Any remaining bonus slots may be dispersed this week, at launch, or, at most, by the Friday after the latest pre-purchase.

That vet slot is if you created you’re base account before Jan 23rd of this year.
And pre-purchase HoT before release on Friday.

Those slots have been pushed out on Fridays for some time, not sure exactly when you’ll get it, but at this point it is possible that you might not get your new slot until daily reset Friday evening (when I hear many got theirs previous Fridays)
This would mean getting it towards the end of the first day of HoT if my estimations are correct, but that’s the price of procrastination.

I know a bunch of people who waited until the last minute hear and are counting on Anet to change existing delivery code to get them the slot before launch.
They might, but be careful with your expectations, lest it sour launch day fun.

HoT by default comes with one character slot, if I remember correctly. You only get the second one if you pre-purchased (as in given your money to ArenaNet, not Gamestop to hold a copy of the game for you) before a certain date. I forget the cutoff date, but even if you actually pre-purchased the game now, you won’t get the second character slot.

Search engine doesn’t work and hasn’t ever worked to my knowledge.

Not sure Pre-orders get any slots.

The slots on the Deluxe and Ultimate versions were specifically pre-purchase bonuses.
According to Gaile pre-orders do not get the benefits of pre-purchase.

The extra veteran appreciation slot on all 3 versions is only available if you pre-purchase HoT before launch AND your core account was created before Jan 23rd of this year.

I bought Heart of Thorns last night and saw the Magumma Trailblazer title but don’t see a free character slot. Right now I have 6 characters and no available free slot. Do we get a free slot when expansion release?

So as far as im concerned everyone who installs and links to their account before the official xp release time gets the slot – they apparently give out new slots each Friday so we should get ours this Friday.

While im here though I have to voice my displeasure at being gently coerced into pre purchase for the character slot that should have been given with every purchase due to the new class, and im still salty that I cant get a free GW2 Vanilla account seeing as GW2 and HoT are now the SAME product.

I hung onto to the last minute so my paltry and late stage purchase would if they are following late sales trends show they could have done better in the lead up and to give them 0.0000001p less profit in pre purchase interest lol

Well, you can always just purchase another character slot from the gem store. I mean, that’s what they want you to do anyway, hence the manipulative pre-order scheme.

Glad to see Im not the only one wondering about this.

Bought my preorder HoT today and have been checking to see if I got the free character slot yet (bought the game when it first came out). Nothing yet.

Usually take a couple of day before getting your stuff.

Every Friday they are sent out in batches, you should have it this Friday.

If you do not plan on Making a Charr, then a char slot will be useless for you.
