Will we have to create new characters once the Expansion is loaded, or will we be able to continue with our existing characters from guild wars 2? Will our data merge from the old server?

We’ll be able to take our old characters into HoT. That’s part of the point of the story continuing into the new areas, we’re still playing the Pact Commander, Trahearne’s right hand and “boss” of the Scooby gang.

You can access the new maps of Heart of Thorns with any L80 (or near that) character, once live (and you have purchased access). When you purchase Heart of Thorns, you have the opportunity to upgrade your existing account, so everything you have attained previously carries over.
