The other races look so chill while gliding and the charr look like they’re trying to scare someone or crash and burn.
It’s to make sure they always land on their feet.

Charr are Superman.

Actually charrs have a fleet of helicopters (whatever they’re called), so I doubt it’s the reason :P Unless they feel insecure without metal cover around them, while flying.
change charr gliding to smth like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9cXs95my8w

They want to land on all fours.

Throw a cat out the window and see how they act.
On second thought, don’t do that. Forgot this was the internet.

Seriously.
The notion of throwing a cat out of a (hopefully first-story) window and not recording he hilarity is blasphemy in the modern era. “See how they act.” Pff. Press Record first.

i live with two cats.
unfortunately they dont have wings/gliders attached, so i’m unable to verify.
are charr scared of gliding? that would explain their “supercat” pose while gliding.
:)

charr glide like i would
I don’t think Charr would have an issue with flying/gliding, since they engineer helicopters and contributed in the engineering of airships.
I think its more likely that they just prefer to put their arms out in front of them, than behind them, because of their curved backs. Its probably uncomfortable for the arms to go at that angle considering the angle of their back.
I think charr can tell the difference between gliding and falling to their death.
The reason for the pose is to allow them to transition smoothly between their glide animation and their landing animation / run animation.
If they held their hands out to the sides when gliding like other races, then when they landed their arms would have to suddenly “snap” to the front, which would look choppy.
Logically it makes sense too, for the same reason. They want to land in such a way that they land on all fours (since they’re top-heavy and it would probably be difficult for them to land from a height on just 2 legs), so they want to maintain a posture that will allow them to do such.
