In reference to the graphic shown in https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-one-a-primer/ (also attached), one concerning thing appears to be the fact that you cannot select multiple traits from the same line at major choices. Will I not be able to choose two Adept traits if I wanted to do so? What if I want two Master traits instead of using a Master and Grand Master trait?

based on the info in the article yes, you won’t be able to select two master traits from the same line. BUT the traits as they are will be reviewed, some will be moved, some will be changed etc.

build diversity will be reduce, only 3 lines and less traits to choose. Ofc many got merge but still you can pick traits only from 3 lines.

To the OP’s question, the answer appears to be NO – you choose one and only one Adept trait out of 3, you cannot pick an Adept trait for the Master slot.

Do remember that they said they are merging some of the traits (and culling others) to get down to 3 for each tier. It is possible that the 2 adept or 2 master traits you might have chosen instead of a higher tiered trait could now be rolled into the same trait. Or that functionality could become a standard part of a skills use (like targeted necro wells). I wouldn’t get too worried just yet.

Yeah I know this sounds scary but they’re gonna overhaul so many of the traits that I feel like for the most part you won’t want to take a master trait over a grandmaster anyway, so while this might suck short term I think long term it’s really gonna help.

you would hope, but what if i wanted to be a big ol healer and i thought those 2 adepts were better than one of them grandmaster.

limitations are annoying. the grandmaster’s better be real good
