I know many ppl will disagree with my pov, but the recent reveal of torch for warriors and warhorn for eles led me to write this.

When GW2 was created, the game designers & co spent a lot of time to carefully create the classes we used to know, and each class got access to a pool of weapons. These pools excluded certain weapons for certain classes for a reason. Now with HoT every class shall get a ‘new’ weapon, which leads to the question: why NOW and not 3 years earlier?

So this every class has to get a new weapon with shiny skills feels like we need to sell our stuff and need sth new but dont want much work and thinking hurts .
At least that explains the weird weapon choices and poorly designed traits/skills (LB trap for guard with inversed order, low dps, virtue cast times etc pp).
In the mean time you increase WvW map cap without countering the lag at the same time. It all looks so shiny but I already see the ‘no elite spec’ lfgs one week after release incoming for a reason…

I get a chuckle every time I do reflect on Triple Trouble.

“The only time you get your time to shine shield! And only if I screw up the oh so much better Wall of Reflection. So not really shining, I mean I look cool I guess.”

You’re going to see the ‘no elite spec’ ads for the same reason you see ‘must have x ap’ ‘must be zerk’ ‘must be 80’ etc etc.

1) People know what works and tend to be adverse to change (“If it aint broke don’t fix it”) They typically hate and/or fear anything outside their comfort zone.

2) The current state of pve is rather simplistic. The things the elite specs bring to the table aren’t necessary in the quantities that they bring them.

3) A lot of people are simply kittens, but that’s humanity for you

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

We’ll still a lot of the “no necro” crap, even after reaper. This falls right back to the points made about people being kittens and being set in their ways.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Warriors had the most weapon choices to begin with so it makes sense there weapon choices would be strange. That said they may be the cap on the number of specializations they’ll introduce as a ele/eng can go on for some time adding new specializations but a warr cannot as they aready haev most of them unlocked.

Also not all the starting weapon selections even made sense for instance the main hand pistol on a mesmer? The have offhand pistol the only class with that alone but if a class can shoot a pistol with there off hadn shouldn’t they be able to do so with there main hand? Mesmer is the duelist class after all. Shield and sword makes sense for dueling I suppose but still.

Also only 2 class in the entire game can use rifle? So thief better be getting a rifle cause I’d like actually use some of the skins I collect.

I don’t think it’s likely this time round, but I would like to see a rifle Thief in the future.

(actually, Staff/Rifle thief would be a nice – if impossible – combo)

Giving new weapons just makes the whole game harder to balance. If the new traits apply outside of the HoT area they are likely to unbalance play everywhere they are used.

This whole process also tends to make classes more alike.

I think they should look at the present weapons, like the Guardian shield, and, where appropriate, give them better skills
