Collectors Edition CBT Access
Would be a nice gesture that I’m sure would be met with a lot of entitled backlash haha.
Why?
It would have made sense if it were a Collectors Edition of HoT. But a collectors edition for the original game purchased almost three years ago should have nothing at all to do with access to HoT.
It is also worth pointing out that the Collectors Edition and the Deluxe edition probably looks identical as far as account-flags go, seeing as the in-game stuff gained from them are the same.

Why not? Would just be an added bonus for the purchase. A GW2 collectors edition would still be relevant to GW2:HoT. Since you need the base game to play.
Because it was bought 3 years ago?
Giving people with extra money special benefits is rather usual in the real world, I don’t really see why they should add that into the digital one as well. Especially considering that the CE was very limited and even impossible to buy in multiple countries.
And yes, you need the base game. But why should only the CE get the special privilege?
It is also the thing that I pointed out in my post: Can the game differ between a DE and a CE account, seeing as both were identical as far as in-game stuff goes.

As somebody who has 2 CEs I actually don’t support this idea. Beta access from a random drop in SW/DT is just as random as Beta invite from picking random newsletter subscribers. Stop whining, seriously.
I think that’s a great idea.
150 bucks were too expensive for me at that point so I did not get one.
But since it was the biggest edition and something for true fans and supporters some reward like this would be nice.
And in the end, it’s just a beta. No new great expensive stuff.
100% supporting this!
No? Why should you be rewarded for something you’ve already paid for, you knew what you were paying, you knew what you were getting, you still paid for it, it doesn’t need anything else tacked on 3 years down the line. Has that ever happened before? No, because it’s stupid.
I bought a lesser edition of the game, but i’ve played it just as long as you and could’ve potentially spent more in the gem store than you, that doesn’t mean I’m entitled to a beta invite.
Also to Schumi, for “true fans and supporters” who says people that didn’t buy it aren’t true supporters? Not everyone is financially able to spend £150 on a game.

Yeah that’s not an argument; I’m still befuddled as to why they didn’t query their highest profit players from their database that are active and gave them access;
You might have spent 150 for a collectors edition, but someone may have spent $1000 in the gemstore in the last 2 years lol.
Anet should minimize RNG because it’s in most cases perceived as unfair. They should also look into this rumour that new accounts are luckier. I never get SQUAT and I ’ve been playing since launch. No ascended drops ever, no nothing. My friends gets the game for 10 bucks and immediately gets the bee dog mini out of black lion chest.
I don’t even want to mention wasting 2100 gems on black lion keys and getting NADA. (3 scraps, a nicekittenfrom anet)
Nuf said. Hate RNG. Hate it. Will not spend another dime on RNG. Ever. Will not participate in RNG. Ever. GW2 is now in my mind not something to devote my time to, but something to log onto to kitten around with alts.
How is RNG unfair? It is the ONLY fair system when it comes to selecting a limited amount of players.
And if you will never participate in RNG ever, you will basically never be able to play any game at all, since basically all of them involved RNG.

Paying for RNG, efectivelly, IS unfair. Don’t do it. The house always win. Using it to “evenly” distribute free stuff is ok, though.
Rewarding the most supporting and commited players, on the other hand, is more than fair, IMO. Is polite. People that spend the most time and those that spend the most money in the game deserve some love from the house. Its called “to reward loyalty”, and its a fairly common and well famed practice.
If you have some really good customers, why not let them know they are appreciated?
Of course, I would not enter in any of those two groups. Sadly.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

I think I’m more in support of this after reading some of the responses. I don’t have the CE, but frankly I don’t care how people get into a closed beta if an open beta is also scheduled. Seeing people get riled up over something so innocent has given me a laugh. I’m all for it.
First, that’s not what CBT means. Go ahead. Google it. I dare you.
Second, that’s not what CLOSED beta testing is. You’re thinking of “Open” (to the public) beta testing, also known as “Early Access” or a “Preview Demo”.
Third, that, what I just said, is not Beta testing, per se. Here, read, enjoy and revel in learning.

I doubt there will be an open beta for an expansion.
They would need to set up way too many test servers to accommodate all those who would want to enter it.
They were able to make public beta tests for GW2 because they had the infrastructure available for it. Most of the test servers were likely turned to official servers when the game went live. They don’t have all those test servers available anymore now.
And I doubt they would make an open beta on the actual game servers. if something goes wrong with the beta , they would be in deep trouble and need to do a rollback. And no one wants a rollback.
Why not? Would just be an added bonus for the purchase. A GW2 collectors edition would still be relevant to GW2:HoT. Since you need the base game to play.
And you retain access to the base game, as well as the perks that came with the collector’s edition of it, even after HoT.
When you bought the game 3 years ago, a sense of entitlement was not included in the exclusive bonuses. It’s not fair to expect any form of special treatment, besides what was promised to you at that time, and what others denied access to when they chose to buy the standard game.

I agree with this post.
As an owner of the GW2: Collector’s Edition I don’t see a reason why I should be entitled to beta access to the HoT expansion when I have, for the past 2 years, gotten very, VERY good value out of my initial $150 purchase.
No thanks, I’m good.
