have not tryed but i would say you can just run there throught the door in the lower left of the SW

I don’t know if you have to complete the core game personal story to play it, but you do need to do the first two chapters of HoT personal story to get to the new maps at the very least. Tried to take my friend through the door and it told him he had to play those chapters.

Try opening up your story journal in the hero panel and see if it lets you activate the HoT story.

you don’t need to complete the original personal story at all. I completed the entire HoT story on a revenant who never did the first step of the core game personal story.
