During the first personal story mission for heart of thorns, my computer simply turns itself off, does anyone else have this problem?

That’s almost always a hardware issue.

May be a heat issue. Older computers sometimes need to have the thermal gel reapplied to the cpu. The computer shuts itself off to avoid damage. Games are very demanding. If it’s every game then that’s probably it. Google, "computer shuts down when gaming forum.’’

It seems that their “fix” that was supposed to reduce the sfx clutter actually increased graphics load. It may be that your graphics card is now generating more heat than before, which causes your safety features to kick in and shut the computer down.
