They revamp trinkets so that they’ll be the only source of duration increase? And even if the percentages are small, they’ll have a great impact to the durations themselves.

It would make sense to only allow certain equipment types to have boon and condition stats. Doesn’t necessarily need to be trinkets though.

With the trait changes I can see this going one of two ways.

Condition/Boon Duration get the Critical Damage treatment

By this, I mean that they become an actual attribute. If they do this, they can then release new stat sets that include these and revamp existing ones like Giver’s. The Attribute to % amount could be the same, or slightly higher than Ferocity. Seeing as how they are making condition builds more viable, things like a Condition damage, Precision, Condition duration stat sets can come into the game if they do something like this.

Removal of general Condition/Boon duration attribute

Currently in the game, it is ridiculously easy to build up to 100% general condition duration in PvE. Having 100% to all conditions makes a large number of sigils, runes and traits worthless. Why would you want a sigil that increases your Chill duration, a rune that only increases your burning duration, or a trait that only increases your Poison duration when you can easily get 100% to all? (condition duration does not extend past 100%)
If they were to get rid of general condition/boon duration, then more sigils, runes and traits could become useful in PvE. Builds would be more focuses to a certain condition. Like a Reaper putting an emphasis in chill (sigil of chilling, Rune of ice,) or a Guardian focusing on Burning (sigil of smoldering, balthazar runes)

Im really hoping they go with the removal of boon/condi duration (and obviously balance around that).

Other than specific traits and runes that give a bonus to ONE condition/boon, it seems dumb to have one stat cover all of them (just like how silly it is to have some food give +15% to one duration and other food that gives +40% to all durations)

I think the best would be to remove the general Boon/Condition duration stat, and leave only the sigil/rune specific bonuses, but buffed a bit. So you can gear to specifically have better poison or chill, but not to just be better at everything in general.

Agreed. Make Necro decide what they actually want to apply. And see Guardians burn everything to ashes.

Lets take the lowest dps specs in the game, and remove the stats that make them better!

What exactly are you attempting to solve with the change? It seems you are making a change just for the sake of changing something?

If you want to make a useful change make a “zerker” condition spec:

+condition damage
+condition duration
+precision

Give each piece ~10% condition duration, allowing condition specs to get an overall 200-250% duration increase. Combine that with the removal of the condition cap, and increase condition damage overall by ~20% from all sources and that will give you condition specs that are at least close to power based builds in dps.

^You can increase condition duration by max 100%. Anything else will be wasted. 250% condi duration would be an overkill as well in pvp.

I think removing duration attribute AND traits reduce build variety.

@Syrpharon, that moment when you realize a GUARDIAN pwns with burning, but eles don’t.

+% condi duration and -% condi duration combine additively before you check to see the total. So if someone has -66% condi duration to certain ones via a trait, and -40% condi duration food, you’d need +200% condi duration just to reach the max +100% duration.

Condi builds are pretty much dead in spvp, and only exist in roaming builds in wvw. In pve they are subpar to the zerker meta. Crapping on their duration and dropping their damage will simply push everyone into zerk builds and kill diversity even further. The meta is already stake.

i suspect the amount currently gained by a trait line will mostly disappear and not be replaced in any way, with the exception of maybe making giver armor stats a boost or buffing some of the sigil/runes.

as others have said, duration is just so easy to increase that most of the sigils/runes that serve that function are irrelevant.
