This may just be that we haven’t been told enough information to fully understand it, but in case I completely missed something, I have a question about specializations.

After reading several forum posts and a handful of articles, everyone seems to be under the assumption that specializations for each class are tied to a SINGLE weapon. For example, a ranger is a druid when they have a staff equipped, but not with any other weapons. On top of that, staff is the ONLY druid weapon. If you equip any normal ranger weapon, you are once again a ranger, and no longer a druid. After watching the twitch stream, the thought never even occurred to me until I started reading online that there might only be one weapon for the specializations for each class. I just assumed that the specializations would utilize more weapons, and the old weapons in a different way.

Is this the way specializations will work, or do we just not know enough information yet to determine how they will function?

I’m basing this off an article posted here by another person but Colin says in that article that fundamentally they are very much like secondary professions in GW1. It’s stated that when you as a ranger decide to become a druid you still have access to everything “ranger” and now you have the druid skills and abilities too. The way I read that is that we would be able to use our other weapons as a druid too, but this part is my assumption based on the article and not a statement from ArenaNet.
