My issue is difficult to explain, so I hope you all can follow..

Actions Taken:
- Purchased HoT..

- Attempted to register HoT with the email linked to my MAIN account.. FAILURE
(Doing this populated the incorrect account name for my MAIN account)

- Attempted to register HoT with alt email also linked to my MAIN account.. SUCCESS
(However, this email is no longer used to access my MAIN account due to assistance from Anet, involving a compromised account)

- Knowing these 2 email address tie to the same account name, I proceed to log into my MAIN account.. HoT content is NOT present!

- Logged into GW2 via the OLD email, which is no longer used (but tied to my MAIN account still).. HoT content IS present – on a naked account!!!

- Opened a ticket…

LOGIC:
So, it appears that my account has 2 heads.. My MAIN account did not upgrade, even though I used the correct information in my initial attempt to apply HoT (which failed). Instead I had to use the old email and now have 2 accounts. Each accessed via a different email address, which are tied to the SAME account!!!

I’d ask for a refund, but at this point I dunno WHICH account will be deactivated!

Has anyone else had this issue? Can anyone shine any light on this?

You will have to wait for support respond. Sound like you use HoT code and make a new account with it. Way to register HoT to current account is log in to GW2 website go to “my account” link (this link you can also see under you display name here on forum) and in there is place to add code to account to upgrade to HoT. But you can not do this now because look like you use code and make different account. Support probably fix this all for you when they respond.

Yeah, I saw there was 2 different ways to go about getting HoT. I figured they would both be upgrades if I already had an account.. /sigh

Yeah, hope you’re right. Just hope it’s sooner than later XP.. I’d like to play the content I payed for :/

I believe you got confused by the registration and upgrading process (which is a mistake I almost made as well).

If you’re upgrading a current account, you shouldn’t need to enter an email address at all. If I recall correctly the process was to go to My Account on the top of the website, then to Game Content, then scroll down to Add Code and plug in the code you got with your HoT purchase.

It sounds like what happened was you mistook the Registration process as the upgrading process (which normally would make sense, but ANet rolled Core into HoT to “simplify” the purchasing process, because people are apparently intimidated by seeing more than one item in a store) and accidentally created a brand new HoT account using your old email address (which isn’t actually linked to your main account anymore, customer service would have unlinked it to prevent further compromises after you asked them to switch to the new email).

Crazy.. No, that makes complete sense. I’ll just go through the “upgrade” process and request a refund on the other.
