Am I just expecting to much or are the Dragon Stand crystalline ore drop rates really annoyingly low? :C I know it’s for the legendary armor part 2 and what not but still.

You should be getting at least 1 per pod. Going into the meta with 70 keys, and whatever I get from progression awards, I average around 110-120.

I’ve seen people claim less than ~70 per 70 machetes used, but… never from someone who seemed meticulous about keeping track. Myself, I estimate I need one DS meta per 50, so I always end up being pleasantly surprised because it’s always more than that.

I mean even if you get 50 per DS that’s 12 DS for a set of leadership runes, i mean that’s not a LOT but that’s 12 hours of game play, bit excessive IMHO.

They’re not getting every node. I was keeping track as I was gathering enough for all of the HoT legendaries.

Actually, that’s two hours each run as you generally don’t do two meta runs within the same two hour window. That makes it 24 hours. Lots of ‘fun’. Or were you referring to how long it takes actively playing on the map?

Yes, that was my point. The only claims I’ve seen for fewer than ~70/70 have been from people who didn’t keep careful track.

You haven’t played during the first months of the expansion. You got about 30-40 ores back then. It took quite a bit to make a legendary.

Actually Crystalline Ores were still fairly easy since they always had the at least 1 per pod. Ley line sparks were there horrible one …

First off no the Crystalline Ore doesn’t drop in every pod. You have a chance for 1-3 to drop from a pod. For instance today farmed 8 or 9 pods got 10 ore with at least one to two pod dropping multiple ore. There have been times I’ve farmed 20 pods and gotten 8 ore. Since nobody was doing the meta took about an hour to get the ten ore. It’s definitely a drag for people now to gather the ore. I’m still working on getting a single set of Leadership Runes and at this rate if I catch a meta then I’ll use up my 71 Machettes otherwise well it’s gonna take a lot of time. To be brutally honest, DS is the worst for farming. It’s entirely dependent on a Meta otherwise the map is very restrictive to world exploration. I will give it one plus, it’s not the cluster of confusion Tangled Depths is. There should be a home instance Noxious Pod, but they’ve decided that everyone has time to farm Ore and keep up with current content. At this point with an expansion looming I’m in no rush. Really wish I could have got my Masteries done, but that’s not going to happened before the expansion gets here. I usually try to catch the weekly meta and that pretty much gets me all the pods I need, Machettes are just too far and between because of the lack of solo tasks.

Never had less then 100. 100-110 is the average for me.

With the next expac looming could the drops of crystaline ore from pob be increased to 2 or even 3? (the default drops that is)

Yes, they are. You need to grind quite a few 1.5-hour runs of DS to get enough for a legedary weapon alone.

Ok so I know this hasn’t been updated in over a year but I have to say that crystalline ore is worse than obi shards, mystic coins and mystic clovers. I say this because I can spend a full weekend of at least 10 hours of play and barely hit 250 not to mention that is all RNG. I have a friend that we did DS all day and he got half of what I got. I understand that in MMO’s things are meant to take time but when the three most grindy things needed for legendarys and ascended is easier to acquire than crystalline ore that is OBSURD. Now raids came out we all thought yay another way to get crystalline ore that was not the case either. The only way to get any is doing the story a million times (which to me on average most people have 9 characters), run DS only and I know some will say PvP and WvW nope, its only once and never can redo it. Even the magumma track gives you less than 10 pods at best. Now if you could craft it or have another way to get the same drop rate that would be fine but there isn’t. VB AB and TD can do just the boss and still walk away with close to a stack or higher of their currancey. DS you have to take 2 hours (maybe faster depending on map) to even get as many pods as you can get and you cant guarantee walking away with 80 which is if your lucky. SO for crystalline ore I think another way of getting it or up it a bit is wise

It’s five or six dragon stand runs. Which brings it to about five or six hours, less time than it takes to earn a gift of battle.

Being that this is a long term goal, you could run dragon stand once a week for say two months and have it.

I’ve made Nevermore, Shooshado, HOPE and I already have enough dragonite Orr for my next HoT legendary in addition to buying every single one of the guild hall minis, which is more than another legendary. It’s just running dragon stand. Every single pod gives you at least 1 crystalline Ore, so if you get lucky you can run it less, but if you don’t, it’s still not as long as a gift of battle.

Farm the other map currency and then buy machetes. I average 120+ per run when I open all pods.

I much less efficient (and patient), but even I get 60 without doing more than visiting all the WPs and getting the chests nearby. (there are more, of course, many of which aren’t hard to get)

Yeah. You can easily get that much from just around the camps after their events. But for me I’m unfortunately trying to be as efficient as I can to minimize the number of DS runs that I have to get.

That’s cute. 40 machetes. 40 c-ore.
It’s a dumb, RNG-loaded system that’s more complicated than it needs to be.

Instead of:
RNG loot value, check against chart/if statements, it would be better to use 1 RNG number and scale it via square root or logarithmic function to get a single result, which more importantly has the benefit of a better range of currency reward while still being random and favoring lower values.

Many alts; handle it!
