Yes, the amount of stuff you need for guild hall is ridiculous. I mean the minis, wtf? Doesn’t make any sense. It’s like, look here a rice grain pay 100000€ for it. It’s so arbitrary.

Plus they are SO ugly. The models are completetly downscaled, this lead to a lot of aliasing.
The price also doesn’t make sense; It should have stayed at the initial cost.

ArenaNet, istead of putting crystalline ore as a currency everywhere in hope of increasing player numbers in Dragon Stand, rather fix that stupid map:
1. fix disconnects
2. fix the fact you have to wait for new map
3. fix the fact that you get nothing if you cannot stay until the end
4. fix the low time available after the final boss is beaten
5. add crystalline ore as a reward for every event. Why the hell not?!!!!!!!
6. fix fix fix fix. stop with your kittened grind attitudes
Maybe they don’t want you to have them all. Or maybe they only want you to have them all as a long term goal, like years. They like scarcity and only some people having the rewards or only having them after lots of time and effort. Since they like scarcity and long term goals then they’re not going to reduce the numbers needed or the number of ore that you get.

Except that long term goal miniature shouldn’t be tiny & crap looking miniature of common/generic mob NPC.
That doesn’t fit well with long time goal or amazing reward.

How it looks is a different subject. It doesn’t have anything to making it a long term goal. You can make crap items a long term goal. It allows the game to put in items so it can put it down on the reward scorecard, yet not take a lot of effort. Completionist will still go for them.

Why would anyone except super completionist pay these silly prices for generic looking miniatures? Noone who sees them will recognize them as something more than the 1-10 gold miniatures you can buy from TP.

Everyone is evaluating the crystalline ore requirements by today’s standards. In a year (or two), tons of people are going to complain they have no use for them. That’s pretty much exactly what happens with every similar ‘currency’: when ascended mats first came out, people complained about how hard it was to get empyreals or bloodstone or dragonite. Fast-forward a year or two and folks were demanding ‘eaters’ (which we now have).
For what it’s worth, I don’t have any interest in spending 500 crystalline ore on minis (even though I think some are great). However, I fully expect that in a year (if I’m still playing), I’ll think it’s cheap at twice the price.
We got the mini vendor yesterday and I was really surprised by the cost for these ugly minis. But I shouldn’t be surprised any more when it is the Guild Hall, everything about the Guild Hall is a farm and months of work for nothing useful at all.

As long as it is only available on that one map it will never be “cheap at twice the price”. I already grew sick and tired of this boring map after having earned around 1k crystalline ore (most of it from my 18 story playthroughs, 40 ore each). The only good thing about the map is the way too easy Mordremoth fight and the nice map art. All the previous events are just so boring that I would prefer going afk during them if I didnt need to tag them for map participation.

It doesn’t make absolutely any sense only that after 2 hours of events, and only having time to open a few pods because they rarely ever spawn, machetes are rarely awarded and the map closes in no time, and even if you do open pods, they rarely ever give any ore at all. And no ore is awarded directly from the meta-event.
Then you go to the vendors and see the insane costs compared with what you can earn.
The numbers are so insane that it’s way more effective to complete the story repeatedly with new characters that depending on the event. So people don’t do the event, and without people the event becomes even harder to do, and things only get worse.
So there’s only 4 possibilities:
- They were worried of some farming scheme being possible, and made the numbers deliberately low just in case, so no one got way too many at the start.
- Someone added an extra 0 in the costs by mistake.
- Someone copypasted drop tables from somewhere else and forgot to adjust the values to something reasonable, leaving just different items.
- There’s someone with a grudge against ANet working against them from within, purposely making changes to troll players and seed discontent.
If you are trying to get 3 full sets of Armor, 2 full sets of weapons and some mini why do you expect it to be easy?
If you want crystalline ore to be trivialized then go a step further and suggest those items boughten with them be sellable/buyable on TP.
Or you know…ask for new content with crystalline ore available in it…

One thing is trivializing the content, and another is making it reasonable.
If the balance between sources of the ore and costs of items that use it as a currency are not reasonable, getting each item feels like freaking taking down a wall of Azbantium
If I spend 2 hours in VB, I can buy one thing in the shops.
If I spend 24 hours in Dragon’s Stand, I can’t buy half a thing.
That is insane.

I dont ask it to be easy. The timegate on the crystals from the guildshall workshop and the timegate on guild commendations alone will prevent you from getting them fast. But why does it require crystalline ore to buy things from the guild hall only vendors? Makes no sense at all.

I can appreciate the guild vendors requiring crystalline ore being viewed as innapropriate. Which brings me back to adding more sources for crystalline ore.
I doubt they will add more sources for crystalline ore. It would make large parts of the map useless. I am already suprised that noxious pods can give map relative crafting materials of the 3 previous maps.

If crystalline ore is the only reason to enter a map then there is another separate problem.
I would be for switching the costs around. 40 commendations and 10 crystalline ore.
In a way, having these costs makes it a slightly more rare skin, rather than something every guild has. There’s a bit more effort involved that way.
Bit sad that you need to do DS only for it tho. There’s nothing for wvw or pvp to get them, right?

40 commendations and 10 crystalline ore would be worse. Instead of making 1 skin every week + 4 DS runs you could make one every 4 weeks + 1 DS run.
They should just remove the crystalline ore requirement like they already did from the decoration traders.
Agree. First u have the expenses tu upgrade the GH-stores and then the ore-expenses on top of that. Its a gold-sink and a grind fest.

Agree also put all the mini at 40 commendations or at least not have that ridiculou jump from 25 reco to 75 reco.

We all think the crystalline ore cost seems high today. There’s no way I’m “wasting” my hard-to-come-by ore on armor that sports a logo that causes all my color schemes to look bad.
However, in a year, it wouldn’t surprise me if many of us find we have way too much ore. At least, that’s what happened with bloodstone, dragonite, empyreal, bandit crests, etc
Still, I would welcome if there were alternative prices for each item, perhaps 100k karma or a mix of Magus Falls map currencies.
In the meantime, I’m not in a rush to get any of the items. I can wait.

I believe you are wrong on this one. We can only get crystalline ore from this one map. People who do not enjoy the boring nature of the events on this map will never have an overabundance of this currency, especially if they plan to build all 16 HoT legendaries, which would be 4000 crystalline ore, or roughly 600 hours on this map alone.
To compare this with bloodstone dust, empyreal fragments or dragonite ore is not a good idea. It took me less than 2 weeks to have too many of those since about everything in this game gave you a load of them and not just one specific part of the game (noxious pods in dragons stand and two story missions on that same map).
Dragon Stand offers nothing of value other than crystalline ore. It is neither good for farming crafting materials nor making gold in general. I heared there are a few rare skins in the noxious pods, but they are so rare that you are better off farming the gold for them and buying them on TP, so those are not a reason to go there either.
As it stands right now I will never visit this map again once I finished the “Ex Machina” collection, because it does not feel worth my time (this is no fun to me: easy, boring, repetive and bad rewards) and will just skip any non achievement related rewards this map may offer. This also means I will skip on all the HoT legendaries and not build a single one of them (only building the precursor since the collections give AP).
Judging from people in our guild and my friendlist I am not the only one who dislikes this map and just tacking on the map currency on a lot of random rewards (guild hall vendors) will not make me farm this map just a single extra run.

This is exactly me. No reason to go back there, bad map design with bad loot lmao
Guild insignia = 10 ore and 3 commendations is cheap
The armor recipes’ cost are no different than the ones that are sold by the Crystalline ore vendor.

If you’re complaining about the overall ridiculous prices of everything in HoT (especially ascended recipes , you’re better off mystic forging a cheap unwanted stat combo) along with the grind to get masteries just to buy Viper’s then you’d have a point.
It’s 600 crystalline ore for a full set of runes. lol

Everything you say might be true today, but it’s subject to change. There use to be limited sources of ascended mats; now there are tons and (some) people have too much.
In any case, I’m not saying that crystalline ore is going to be in overabundance in a year; I’m only saying it wouldn’t surprise me. And again, I’d much prefer there to be several options for prices that include other currencies (besides commendations); the choice of just the one from DS seems weird to me.
The main point of my post is to remind people our perspective 12 months from now will be different. This thread is evaluating the use of c-ore based solely on how it looks today; ANet made the choice based on many factors beyond that. (Doesn’t mean they made a good choice, only that we can’t see the same big picture that they do.)
One thing is trivializing the content, and another is making it reasonable.

That’s not true, you get around 30-50 ores per 2h run, depending how lucky you are with the 10x nodes. I farmed myself easily 100 nodes with 3 runs. That’s about 360 ores in 24h for worst case.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
Meh, it seems the only argument you have is that Dragon’s Stand isn’t fun. That’s not a good enough reason to me to “just remove the ore requirement”. A certain amount of effort should still be involved imo.
Right now for one weapon or armor piece you need about 1 to 3 successful runs. That’s, effortwise, not really all that much at all. Plus once you have the recipe its unlocked forever.
Of course, if you have a personal problem with Dragons Stand, then youre pretty much screwed. Looking into some other form of currency that would replace the ore requirement, like from each of the maps you can buy a Guild Sigil or so which costs something like 10 ore or 100 airship oil or 75 auric dust or 25 leyline sparks. And the price would be like 4 of these sigils and 10 commendations (yay arbritrary numbers!) Then you would have at least half a reasonable suggestion.

No. I don’t. I’m getting 0-1 ore per pod, most of the time 0, and that’s when I see any, and my left hand’s little finger hurts already enough from keeping Ctrl pressed and not seeing any ever. And the map closes right after the end, so there’s no time to go look for more, you are limited to the ones you find on your way.
The design of the map forces people to choose between helping in events and go look for pods and complete the map.
The ore from the pods should be a random bonus, noxious pods should give at least one ore, the main ore reward should be guaranteed based on personal participation and come from doing events, and the map should stay open at least 40 minutes after the boss fight. Then we’d start getting closer to being reasonable.

There’s 5-10 over the whole map at any time. But most pods are actually after defeating the mouth. Then each bonus boss area has about another dozen of pods. Some of those require higher masteries. Some don’t require anything.
Not sure how you only get so little. Or you never did the meta. I only done the meta once and those 15 minutes was enough for me to go to these huge kitten arrows on the map and actually farm some rewards from those.
I agree though. 15 minutes seemed really short for a “get your reward time”. It is really double to defeat the main challenge and then getting to the rewarding areas isa challenge on top of that.
Obviously, only regarding the pods, there is a boss chest. But still.

Read again. I do not care if the map specific rewards or legendaries need a ton of these currencies. But why do guild hall vendors require currencies from this specific map? They have quite literally nothing in common with the Dragon Stand map and are just exotic skins. The only explaination I have for this is, that anet knows how boring this map is and needs to add more artificial reasons to go there.

As I said I doubt that crystalline ore will ever be added to other sources in any amounts worth mentioning. It would make this map obsolete since it is the only reason to do this map.

That was the joke; it’s 3 commendation for 3 crystallline ore per day, when you also need the commendation for everything else.

3 commendations for 3 ore is a joke. If it were 50-100 ore it might be worth considering.
