Crystalline Ore for Unbound Magic
+1 DS sucks
I’d rather they add another way to earn machetes. I have an enormous amount of airship parts but I can’t really take proper advantage of DS rewards because I can’t buy enough machetes due to a lack of leyline crystals (and let’s face it, leyline crystals is the currency that takes the most effort to earn out of the 3). But they could also simply increase machete rewards from the DS events.
At the base minimum they should make crystalline ore drop also on the remaining 3 HoT maps. In that way, people could at least play on the map they like most (and for me that isn’t DS).

if Anet adds Crystalline Ore to Unbound magic vendors that would be the death of the map
If the map is dead people can no longer do map completion and get HoT legendaries
It is vital to keep all 4 HoT maps alive. The easiest way to achieve this is to give each map unique currencies.
Just play DS if you need ore, you can open over 100 noxious pods (my personal record is 101 pods) in one run if you know what you are doing.

Can you please add Crystalline Ores to the Unbound Magic Vendors.
I also don’t like to farm at other HoT map currency just to buy more Machetes and how it’s restricted to Dragon Stand map after the meta is successfully completed.
Like it or not, crystalline ore is DS map’s currency, and this is where it should stay.
Doesn’t make much sense to move Crystaline Ore out of DS but there really needs to be something done about the ley-line crystal and aurillium drops.
I mean it’s ridiculous that airship parts are literally thrown at you (every second pod yields at least 50+ parts) but aurillium and ley-line crystals are almost as rare as crystaline ore. In fact I’ve managed to make a legendary before I was able to collect enough aurillium and ley-line crystals to get specialization weapons.
Basically all AB and TD need is a proper bump in token drops. Machetes / crystaline ore problem solved.

This is the correct answer.
Airship parts are indeed plentiful, but so is aurillium. I never multiloot and I almost always have way more aurillium than I need at any point, by only doing that meta once a week or less. Not unusual for me to get 1-2 thousand without even realizing it. But Ley Line crystals do need to be more plentiful, I never get very many from doing events in TD
Even tarir multiloot gives more aurillium than you use to buy keys. I do one multiloot per day and went from 3k to 8,5k in just a few weeks.
Unbound Magic -> Crystalline Ore
makes as much sense as
VB/AB/TD Map Currency -> Raid Rewards
or as much sense as
Karma → Dungeon Rewards

Im all for map currencies, and I don’t think machetes need a buff or some kind exchange of “x item” for crystalline orr. What we do need is a crystalline ore node for either the guild hall or the home instance. And this is because for some STUPID reason, crystalline ore is a map currency, a guild hall currency, and a crafting material.
So really, if they aren’t going to give us a node, then how about ditching the guild hall currency and use commendations, or the combo of leyline sparks, airship oil, and auric dust.

Let’s be honest, the only basis on whether something does (or doesn’t) have sense is Anet’s whim.
Beyond that, current uses for crystalline ore have as much sense as any example you brought up.

On random days, limited quantity that you can buy, and timegated.

Crystalline ore is different as it’s only available on random days and limited quantities. Dungeon rewards from PvP/WvW reward tracks don’t offer players any large advantage over those that get the rewards primarily from dungeons. It doesn’t remove the need to do dungeons.
The point of specific items tied to specific maps is to encourage players to play those maps. If players could get crystalline ore from unbound magic, and with how easy it is to obtain large quantities of it, this would cause people to have less of a reason to do Dragon’s Stand including the other maps to generate currency for machetes.

If dungeon rewards are what you’re after, it very much does. I personally know people that have full dungeon skin sets without ever setting foot in that dungeon beyond doing the story once.

See pvp reward tracks example.
Also, while i do agree with you about why Anet made it like that, my point was that many of the rewards crystalline ore buys have absolutely no connection to Dragon Stand whatsoever. Especially where guild hall vendors are concerned.
PS: what do you mean “on random days”? You can run DS any and every day, can’t you?
And it’s nowhere as limited as guild currency is.

Dungeon rewards from PvP require a significant time investment to make any lead way in acquiring them. It doesn’t discourage players from doing dungeons unlike unbound magic would for crystalline ore since it’s very easy to acquire large quantities of it.
The random days comment was directed at the guild commendation vendor.
Acquiring crystalline ore is fine as is. It encourages players to play on the HoT maps and especially DS. Players can supplement this with guild commendations when they’re available from the vendor for a max of 3.

Yup. ANet made way too many uses for Crystalline ore. It should either be a currency OR a crafting material, but not both.

That one was so inconsequential that i have even forgotten it existed.
No, my remark earlier was about how guild rewards (guild armor, weapons, minis from miniature vendor) are bought for crystalline ore, instead of using an already existing guild currency for that.

Oh. Yeah, I never understood why guild stuff from the vendors required crystalline ore.
Please tone down some of the vendor costs. I’m trying to do the machined weapons collections to get an ascended rifle and I want to see dragon stand die in hell right now. It’s so tedious.

ex machina needs no crystalline ore
and it is already 10x easier than before April 2016 patch
