What do you think about the first day of Guild Week. Here my feedback

- Expeditions : I was hoping like a guild activity that we could do on a regular basis, but it seem to be a one time thing. Don’t get me wrong it seem like an nice guild activity, but it doesn’t there is any reward or even the possibilty to complete it more than once per guild. This seem like a wasted opportunity and probably that several hundred people in my guild won’t be able to experience it the day we choose.

- Guild Panel : YESSSSSS. I’m so hype that you will be able to talk to different guild without always swaping representation. It’s also nice to see more place for the message of the day.

- Guild Missions : I timer for the next reset is a nice little addition and the Instanced Puzzle/Challenge will fix a lot of problem. The easy/medium/hard thing is super cool. That way small guild won’t be excluded from some missions, while big guild won’t find them boring because of their numbers. Now I just hope that favor will be more important than influence so we have a incentive to always try to do the hardest one.

- PvP Missions : I had doudt, and those doudt are confirmed. They don’t look like guild mission at all. They seem like guild achivement. For PvP, one officier will try to do it with 2-4 other guild member and that’s it. It doesn’t feel like something that need to be done with the whole guild.

- WvW Missions : THe same problem as PvP. At least we probably gonna do this in one shot with several guildmate going into WvW to complete them. The jumping puzzle will probably nice with 50 member of the guild tring to complete it at the same time. Time to dust off my Roaming Mesmer.

Seriously. For PvP and WvW missions I would had prefer a kind of Weekly achievement list. Each week, you receive a list of accomplishment for both PvP and WvW and your guild have a week to complete all of them. The more you do, the better the reward for the guild. The system they seem to propose just sound wrong IMO. But maybe I’m wrong. We’ll see at the xpac.

I agree with you on PvP and WvW being guild achievements.

Except these are worse than achievements.

They seem like dailies or monthlies but you have to hit a button and complete them in a window for them to count. Is the time window really necessary?

Imagine having a daily event completer except with a button you had to activate and complete the events within a 10-15 minute time frame. Just pray events spawn in a manner that its do-able and u get all the tags you need to get to earn credit or suffer a failure and wait for an opportune time to start over.

I like the idea you are going with to have kinda guild weekly achievements but the time window just presents a logistics problem more than a challenge.

I mean are we going to have to eat queue times or do we have to be quick enough to pop the mission before the match loads?

Get lucky enough to have match ups to where multiple pvp team wins/get enough objectives simultaneously in totally unrelated matches?

Be waiting to hit the launch button right before a point gets captured or a dolyak is going to be successfully escorted before we hit the button?

Are we going to have to claim the keep/tower and hope that we have enough people representing at that keep or rush to claim it before another guild so we can do the capture and hold mission?

These are not challenges of skill or coordination. These are logistical issues that are likely out of a players hands the vast majority of the time. Please make these more akin to weekly achievements that we can gather for and accomplish without the need to focus on beating logistics of hitting the launch timer or trying to play the logistics of the game to squeeze the most advantage out of that time window.

Also.

Message of the day. Seriously. Took the opposite direction by shrinking it. We need something to draw attention to it when it changes. It is already to easy to ignore and it is our only in-game means with communicating with the entire guild offline and online.

Well, I’m not sure I got this right. They talk about putting it to the side, but in the image we can clearly see that it’s bigger than now. So I don’t know what the hell lol.

I totally failed on properly discussing the MoTD today. So I have some information I think you’ll enjoy (or hope you and others enjoy) concerning it.

  1. Whenever you log into game you will see the MotD broadcast to your chat for that guild you are representing at the time of log in.
  2. Whenever you represent a guild you will see that guild’s MotD broadcast into your chat.
  3. Whenever someone in your guild edits the MotD (they will need guild permissions to do this), you will see your guild’s MotD broadcast to the chat.

Also, to touch on the concerns about the size of the field for the MotD: The “Attributes” section I spoke of at end of stream will only be as wide as the roster tab. We will still have a fairly large field to work with for the message of the day. But should the player(s) miss the MotD, they will have that message broadcast to their chat each time they log in and represent, and when someone edits it.

I hope this is an encouragement and thank you for bringing the subject up. And thank you all for your feedback for the Guild Halls content and for joining us on the stream today!

Based on what we’ve seen so far, you guys have done an amazing job. My guild was talking in teamspeak and we are very happy.

In fact, in terms of the guild interface, there is only one thing I still want that I haven’t seen – an in game event calendar with invite/sign up capabilities.

Even without it, however – amazing job.

I’m not a fan of PvP and WvW being added as guild missions. They really are not. I’d much rather see some new regular guild missions added.

I’d even be happy with things like Teq or the Wurm being added as guild missions. Guild 1 starts their own instance of it and then can invite as many people as they want. Scale the encounter based on the number of players.

I really appreciate the way you are trying to make it viable for small guilds. My nearest and dearest guild is quite small, and we were worried about being to even manage the expedition, let alone missions or challenges.

I don’t mind the way WvW and PvP are set up, at least there is something for people who don’t want to do PvE. I do share the concern about how queue times factor in or don’t. Please let us know about that.

The changes to the UI seem really well thought out, especially with the index to clarify things for people who are newer. Being able to see all the guild chats is also great, and will really help me keep track of the more impromptu guild activities, like people trying to organize for a dungeon or fractals, or LS achievements or something.

Finally, I love Dara and McKenna. Please have them on a lot! The puns were great, and the banter about Lord Faran was hilarious—my guildies and I have had nearly the same conversation. (At least the other women and I)

I was already excited for Guild Halls and now I’m not sure how I’ll survive until HoT is released! Thanks!

That is great news but might I mention one more thing? I would love it if there was a chat command to display the message. Often when logging in it takes a minute or so to load in and sometimes my chat gets pretty spammed by the time I get to read it. I’m playing on a fairly old machine so that doesn’t help. Anyway maybe something like /motd ? Thanks for your time

Is there another more general “notes” field somewhere? We just use that field for the mumble server info right now and we really don’t need that spammed to everyone on login.

If your chat is spammed and scrolls past the message, you could, perhaps, just open the Guild Panel and check the MotD. At least, until (if), your suggestion is implemented.

Good luck.

I am so happy about the guild changes.
I was a little worried being a member of a small guild, claiming the guild hall would require 25+ people, but now I know it’s 5 plus is just great.

And the WvW and PvP missions are a great addition, seeing as my guild do bits of everything in game.

Bring it on!

I can’t say I like it much. Granted, its better than the current system, but it does not fix a lot of the issues that small guilds have. For example, I am the only one in my group who enjoys SPvP, and I dislike the notion that me playing SPvP, because I don’t have a group of 2 or 3 guildies, contributes nothing to the guild. Thus, I have a suggestion:

Instead of “Kill 50 players as a group of 3”, for example, make it “As a guild, kill a total of 200 players”. A lot of guilds dont run SPvP teams you know, but they DO have individual players who sometimes enjoy playing it. This would allow them to contribute.

well guild missions are meant to be done as a guild. So you solo playing sPvP repping your guild is no different to you solo playing sPvP repping no guild.

I disagree. Make it a collective effort from the guild as a whole, instead of just an effort from a group of 3. If everyone in the guild can contribute instead of a small, select pool of people, then everyone who actually cares about that content can contribute to it.

That would truly make it a guild effort, instead of a small group effort.

Besides, I don’t see the problem with an individual trying to contribute. Playing by myself as a member of a guild does not somehow make me less of a guild member.

I’m a little unclear on the pvp objectives. Can we cycle them, or is it just luck of the draw?

Like, I’ll play Conquest if I have to, but everyone in my guild prefers Stronghold, and getting them to que for ye olde “stand on the magic spot” game mode will be challenging.

THANK YOU for the MOTD upgrade though. I’ve been wanting a quick login MOTD for the longest.

I have a question that I hope some dev can answer either here or in a future Guild Chat.

Can you display the emblem from one guild while repping another?

I ask because I belong to two guilds, one is a “real” guild of medium size and does activities, while the other is my own personal guild, just me and my vault, however, my personal guild has a much cooler (for me at least) emblem. I use Guild finishers and a Guild longcoat which can display this emblem, and would much rather ti show my own emblem than the “real” guild’s. On the other hand, I don’t like to freeload.

So it sounds like with chat channels, I could at least rep my own guild while still being able to chat with the other guild, which is nice, but I’d still need to at least rep them to take advantage of the new guild member map trackers, to feed Influence to that guild, and of course for Guild Missions, and really I’d like to be able to do all of that while still showing my personal guild’s emblem. Is there any chance of this?

Guild emblems are effectively the in-world “guild tag”

Maybe if enough people lobby for it this could be a thing, but the general intent of guild items is to represent the guild you’re representing rather than showcase a personal logo.

Nothing saying you can’t do as you please of course, just that your use of guild logos may not align with anet’s general intent, so unless a lot of people speak up on it it doesn’t seem like a high priority.

Yeah, and I can understand that, but I think it would be nice to be able to showcase personal expression too, and in terms of implementation I think this would be relatively easy to do, since it’s basically just cross-linking two existing things rather than creating a whole new “concept.”

Besides, the emblems are not actually used for any gameplay function, it’s more the tag in the name that is used to tell people from guilds apart, almost nobody even wears guild armor, so I can’t imagine anyone using “what guild emblem do they have” to separate out one group of players from another.

The ideal state I’d be looking for on this is that if my personal guild was Guild A, and my functional guild was Guild B, I could rep Guild B, have Guild B’s name tag, B’s interface window, send Influence to B, use their guild hall and banking system, participate in their missions, etc., be like 95% active in that guild and benefiting them, but also be able to set my Guild Armor and my Guild Finisher to use the Guild A emblem instead.

For bonus points, they could set it up as a simple toggle in the Hero Panel, where all five of your available guilds (grayed out if you don’t have that many) would have a checkbox or appear on a dropdown, and you could just pick which one to associate with your wardrobe, independent of your actively repped guild.

Okay, so I just got finished watching the stream recording.

WvW missions: most of my guild is on another server (that’s full so I couldn’t transfer even if I wanted to). Do the WvW missions give commendations? Should I be bothered that I won’t be able to do those with my guild?

PvP Missions: Do these give members commendations? If so, how does everyone that wants to participate get their commendations?

Do the regular missions still give commendations?
If so, is the weekly cap of commendations still 6 per person?

The favor for the guild is great and all, but there’s still the personal guild member rewards that weren’t talked about.

Most of the guilds I’ve been in don’t do the guild trek anymore because they don’t give commendations for the guild members so this is something that needs to be touched on at some point.

But I need to mention something. The MotD will be broadcast each time someone modify it? I’m bad at writing some about half the time I modify it, it’s mostly to fix some minor error. I don’t want to spam the guild chat each time I want to fix a little thing or two. I would prefer to have a button that broadcast the MotD in the guild chat when we want. That way we can broadcast it only when the modification is worth it.

I didn’t understand something and i assume i missed it so if someone could explain it to me i would appreciate it. Currently guilds can do 5 different guild missions for weekly credit. Bounties, treks, challenges, puzzles, and rush’s. I saw all the different sections in the new tab with weekly (easy, medium, and hard) Opportunities as well as three other opportunities separate to each game type. So my question is how many of those are separate things you can do each week. For instance can you do one easy, medium hard opportunity and also each of the separate game type opportunity for a total of 6 guild missions each week?

Just a quick question about the part of the broadcast about the treasury. Will the treasury stop people from donating extras of a certain type of material once the maximum amount is reached?

For example in one of the photos shown in a previous stream it showed 500 10 slot iron boxes as part of the upgrade for an NPC in the guild hall.

So once the 500 total has been donated will it stop other people from donating more?

Reason I ask is you mentioned in yesterday’s broadcast that once mats were donated they could only be removed by making the upgrade. So my concern is that if the system doesn’t stop extras from being donated, there is the potential for lots of mats to just be stuck in the treasury for ever and not get used or any way to withdraw them.

I’m curious as to what the favor cap is weekly and if it can be reached without the 10% bonus. While I’m personally not opposed to doing PvP or WvW missions, the fact that my guild is cross server means that it is doubtful we could ever get enough people on the same server for WvW missions.

While the simple answer would be to try to group all members onto the same server, this would limit players that enjoy doing things with multiple guilds if they are based in different servers (which is something being encouraged by allowing /g1-5 chat).

Perhaps making a system that allows guild to select a home server and allows members to guest to that servers WvW only once per week and only for the duration of an active mission?

I think the favor cap could be at or below the max favor you can get if you do the hardest versions of everything, since the cap was stated to be in place in order to make sure big guilds didn’t completely outpace small ones. If I understood that part correctly.

I just thought of something reading another thread. Will now be able to talk to all our guild chat at the same time. It could be nice, but I don’t much use of that tbh. I know that for some people it will be nice, but well.

What would be far more nice is that you can have a way to talk to everybody in a specific guild (or all guild) that they represent or not. Here a couple of situation where this would be so good.

- In main guild where some people are not representing because they are in their guild bank or in special temporary guild. Officer could now talk to everybody representing or not. So that everybody in the guild would have the information. Same go with normal member who ask for people for a dungeon. Sometime someone in his guild bank would still want to join if he could see the demand.

But more important. Guild could be created as glorified friend list. I have a guild, but sometime I want to speed run with full meta zerker. Create a Full meta zerker dungeon guild. Nobody is representing because they all have their guild. But you could talk in that special guild chat and everybody in that guild representing or not would see that you want to start a dungeon group and could join.

So many of those guild could be create for all type of content and regroup people that want to do the same thing without having forcing them to quit their main guild.

Thaddeus, I think you misunderstood. Or I’m misunderstanding your request. Because the multiple guild chat does just what you seem to be asking, it lets you see all your guild chats even if you aren’t repping. So long as you are a member of the guild, you will see all the messages even if you are in your bank guild or your speed run guild.

You won’t see messages from a guild you’re not in, of course. So if you are in guilds A, B, C, D, and E, and your friend is in guilds C, D, E, F, and G, you will be able to share messages only in guilds C, D, and E.

I’m really not a fan of that 10% bonus if you also sign up for PvP and WvW challenges. If people want to do those, great, if people don’t want to, that should be fine too, no penalty needed.

Are you sure? Because I was sure that the next chat was sending your text into the guild chat of all your guild. So if for exemple, i’m in guild A which is the guild that I represent. Another person is in guild B which he represent. I’m not in guild A and he’s not in guild A.

But we both love to do duo/trio dungeon/fractal so we are in a guild for that named C. If I type in the all guild chat then everybody representing Guild A and C will see it. But the guy representing guild B won’t see it.

Maybe I wrong, they didn’t specified it in their post. Do the next channel allow you to talk to everybody in all your guild or it’s simply guild chat of all your guild merge together.

You can read or filter individual guild chats to their own chat boxes however you want to, the same way you filter /say /party and /map now.

Like any other channel you have to to swap to the channel you want to broadcast on.

You can’t say:
/Guild HI ALL THE GUILDS I AM IN

You can however say:
/g1 Hello guild 1
/g2 hello guild 2

and read all messages from those channels in the same box if you want to set it up that way.
