Did Rytlock come across the Eternal Forgemaster while he was in the Mists? Because, while the first thing I noticed about his miniature was the distinct lack of Sohothin (the reason he jumped in), the second thing I noticed was that his armor was studded with glossy black spikes, many of which curved or twisted.
I haven’t seen such a fashion statement in 250 years.

kept thinking he found the cultists at cliffside, personally, and borrowed their hammer
He just may not be using Sohothin primarily anymore. We likely won’t know until the Expansion pack hits.

And none of you noticed the thing I noticed about the armor, then?

(Not the best angle to show off the spikes; the armor’s shaded on this side and ALL looks dark.)
As I said: I haven’t seen such a fashion statement in 250 years.
Look i like your enthusiasm but they already said we will get new armour and one can assume new styles because you are meeting new races. The lack of his sword is pretty odd though . Would be cool if he is still looking at it and you help him find it ?

And the armor could be hinting at possible new armor we get in HoT. He changed his armor to better handle the dangers he faced in the Mists and as he learned about being a Revenant. His old armor got damaged while in the Mists and he chose the current armor he has now by necessity rather than choice. Could be any number of reasons.

…are you referring to shiro?
…are you referring to shiro?
The only thing Shiro has to do with this is as a power source to a catbull. Shiro’s armour isn’t related to this either, it’s the male Sneakthief armour set, you can even get a set of it named Shiro’s armour.
The guy he’s talking about is the NPC that made what amounts to Legendary armour. He was a denizen of the Fissure of Woe, Balthazar’s domain. With the Gods MIA the Fissure of Woe became inaccessible. Honestly, his obsidian armour isn’t anything like the Revenant armour, especially on the professions I played.

Thank you, HotHit. I was wondering if anyone even remembered Obsidian Armor anymore. (Not that it was EVER as fashionable as everyone pretended; I only thought it looked good on three professions, and one of those only if you ignored the headgear.)
Those jagged black spikes are a hallmark of Obsidian Armor, the king of prestige armors by cost. The NPC who makes it – a ghostly four-le… err, centaur named only the “Eternal Forgemaster” – inhabits the Mists (specifically, the Fissure of Woe, where Balthazar resided before the Silence). Rytlock leaped into the Mists.
While the reason was the sword, its lack was tangential to the point of my original post, which was the Obsidian Armor. Will it become a player-accessible skin? Who knows? Eventually, I’m sure, but I’m not sure it’d thematically tie into Heart of Thorns. Me, I just wanted to see if anyone agreed that Revenant Rytlock’s new armor style is likely to be that set.

I think I would actually go into PvE if I could get obby armor for my thief

Well in the trailer he can be seen using Sohothin, so he still has it.
Personally, I’m wondering if he came across anyone else while in the mists, such as Gwen. Just imagine the interaction between those two.

I am wonder what path he took to get to and from the Mists!! In Stronghold of Ebonhawke, JoAnna speaks of a mysterious charr. Rytlock has Thief skills, don’t know if he has stealth or not.
Video of Rytlock helping Commander in HoT closed beta.
The distinct lack of Sohothin might be due to that, he gave it back to its owner (King-Whats-his-face) in the Mists.

THAT would be an interesting plot twist. whi currently holds its sister?
I think the OP is saying they think the new armor will be Obsidian Armor like the elite Underworld armor from GW1.
Perhaps OP is thinking we’ll get access to the Underworld? That’d be a fun dungeon to get back into.
