This is a serious debate that has been circulating in my guild, and with my fellow friends who play guild wars 2. The question is did we get what we paid for, and honestly my perspective is yes and no. The reason we did is because it brought in a way to end the one to two build game, the metas are changing and things are adapting. The new maps are fun and challenging where as the older ones had become stale and really easy? We now have guilds actually doing similar things that the did in guild wars one, but we will get back to that in a minute.

Outside of the Revenant we did not get alot added in the way of “Vast Content”, three or so maps dose not an expansion make? The story-line is short though admittedly better than the original campaign for guild wars 2. But they did say they would be opening all of maguma with this expansion, and the Maguma wastes are not open which may be the next living story season? Which might lead us into the planes above hirathi hinterlands or the Isles of Janthir. Regardless of whether or not that is the case this expansion feels rushed, despite it being a breath of fresh air in the way of cosmetic appearance and WoW factor. This again felt like a door way feature pack to the living story which may or may not pave the way to future installments, but what if the maguma wastes is another fifty dollar expansion? Would that constitute as a expansion or a Capcom esc cash grab? I will leave that for you the readers to decide.

Moving on we have class issues that have been apparent since launch with them being swept under the rug and forgotten. Gliders will only ever be in maguma and through the masteries any new maps will have new ways to help us get around, this is sad to think of because gliding was one of the best features in this expansion (( lots of fun)). The ranger community is in an uproar over pets, and about a way to make them more useful and what pets we would like to see added or the system in which we would like to see. And we are blatantly ignored and not even responded to despite some of the forum ideas being really sound, the same goes for the necromancer forum threads. There are things and ways to improve and fix what is broken or underdeveloped and we you community are telling you about them? You just soaked fifty dollars out of each one of your fans, totaling in i dont know how many sales. The least you can do now is give back to the fans, For me i just want some things fixed. Problems and Exploits that have been there since day 1 on launch of the original game, as well the maguma wastes opened because that was what was promised. ((coughs)) and my dinosaur pet, like a real dinosaur… but im just sayin.

With that i will just leave this here and hope someone important sees it and feels nice enough to make me a large, awesome pet. Not saying it will happen, but you have to listen to your community ya know ;o

The base game was an unbelievable value. You got 5 character slots, pvp, wvw, dungeons, fractals and 5 starting cities with many zones. The base game has given me more entertainment value per dollar spent than any other entertainment purchase thus far in my life, and I can’t see it ever being beaten until Wal-mart introduces a holodeck.

Compared to the base game, the answer is a definite no. We got 4 or 5 new zones, some raids, 1 borderland map (that the wvw community hasn’t exactly warmed up to), zero new character slots, 1 new class, a bunch of elite specializations and maybe a new pvp map. Not much compared to World of Warcraft’s Burning Crusade expansion.

I bought it because the base game was such an unbelievable value so I bought it to support Anet in the hope that they will improve WvW. The new maps (both PvE and WvW) with all the verticality can literally give me a headache at times. This combined with Anet’s disregard of the player’s concerns over the new WvW map makes me tempted to ask for my money back.

Im so tired but for me; no
Compared to base. Definitely Nope. this is 20% @ max contentwise from what base delivered for the same price.

We got one of the smoothest launches I’ve ever experienced in a mmo tho. Big thumps up for that.

But so far, with the upcoming update with raids. I feel like the right pricetag would be around 30.
