For some of us that played GW1, we remember the Dinosaurs that lived in the Tarnished Coast. Sure we’ve seen the Raptors running around various areas in Tyria, but that trailer had some surprising footage of new creatures.

Yeah, I didn’t get a good look at the big dinosaurs in the back, but the large one that enters stage left and attacks the Raptors looks like an ankylosaur. It could be a beefed up version of a GW1 Angorodon, I suppose, but I doubt it.

if by ride you mean jump/hook up on its back and hit it untill its dead then im all for it, if mount way nah sorry wow trolls already can ride dinos

I got my fix of dinosaur riding from Saints Row 4.

Yeah, definitely reminded me of an ankylosaur. Looks amazing tbh – I never played gw1 so I didn’t know dinosaurs were such a big thing in the lore.

They weren’t, really. They existed along the Tarnished Coast in Eye of the North, including Sparkfly Swamp and the areas around Rata Sum and the location of the Pale Tree’s sapling, but not in the northern parts of the Maguuma. There were also a couple of varieties in the Charr Homelands in Eye of the North.

In GW2 it appears that raptors have spread everywhere and split into numerous subspecies, but we haven’t seen any signs of the others: tyrannus, angorodon, ceratodon, ferothrax, trihorn, and armored saurus. Apparently they’ve migrated during the interval between GW1 and GW2. Maybe the asura began an extermination program, which would explain why the areas that became Metrica and Caledon are not crawling with them.

The climate has changed considerably in Tyria in the past 250 years. Kryta seems more temperate now than in Guild Wars days, while areas of the Shiverpeaks once covered with snow are now quite well thawed out. This could be a factor in why some species have relocated. And maybe the raptors are just more adaptable, either by nature or due to asuran experimentation. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with that?

I was soooo hoping to see the dinosaurs return in GW2 and finally it will happen! I am squeeling like a schoolgirl!
Please A-Net, give rangers the opportunity to tame some dinosaurs (even if just raptors first)!!

I wonder if they’ll include a new form of Chomp, eat touched smaller creature (ally or enemy minion/spirit, making it disappear) and regain health.

Wouldn’t say no… ferothrax might be OP though.

Dinosaurs were part of GW1 maguuma also and i remember thinking how cool it was when i first encountered them….few seconds after dieing miserably to an elite dinosaur lol.

Am happy they brought them back in this “enhanced” version. A bit of nostalgia also. A plus from me.

The Maguuma Jungle will get the regular Zaithan treatment.

Every variety will be replaced by 2 different plant hounds, 2 different plants and 1 kind of plant.
