I really was trying to stay clear of anything regarding this topic, because I just don’t like the negative attitude of some people (NOT the people that are just critical, or waiting for more information, can definitely understand that). But I just want to share my view on it, and it didn’t feel right to just post it into one of the threads where people were already being toxic to one another. So, just to make it clear, you can disagree with me, have a different vision of the topic, but just let it be constructive

I’ve read a lot of people wondering if HoT would be worth it, because the things they revealed so far was not as much as they were hoping for, or worth the money paying in advance. But, tbh, when I bought the game I didn’t know what I would be getting for that money either. There was just the first world, no Southsun Cove, Wintersday or the Living Story. And it turned out to be so much bigger than what I initially expected.
The stuff they have revealed so far are nice, absolutely, but it’s not a new game (how could it be, it’s an expansion). But to me it shows they are just redesigning the game, to match the standards they would like to see in its future (and they could easily go for an easy solution like GW3). And I like that idea, all of us will keep then progress we made in this game, but at the same time experience the benefits of a new game. And releasing future expansions would be so much easier based upon a solid foundation.
When I first realized there was going to be an expansion I just couldn’t link it to the stuff I saw during the Living Story. Of course I knew Mordy was involved, and the direction that would bring us, but I dunno. For me things like Glint, Turai Ossa and the ascension markers actually made me convinced we were heading into a different direction, namely the Crystal Desert, Ascension, maybe even Elona. I still think that is a direction the game can go to tho (that, or Cantha, with Bubbles and Largos and stuff).
With all the Living Story episodes we’ve had so far and the things I saw and experienced, I just can’t believe it’s just about the things were getting initially. I think we will see a lot evolve around the Living Story, new lore, Maps maybe even a lot of new expansions coming. Who knows, we could go to Elona, Cantha or just unfamiliar territory in the end.
