Do some updrafts disappear ? Alternatively, do they vary in intensity ever ? I could have sworn I used updrafts to take me from the ground level (western end of the water grotto in Tangled Depths) all the way up to the very lip of that chimney thing. Also, if I’m not mistaken, I think I have flown right through an updraft with no effect at all.

Not sure that any disappear, but there are definitely varying strengths of updrafts. You can actually tell which ones are the boomers and which ones are meh. The strong ones are almost opaque white.

Some will disappear based on the time of day. I.E if it’s daytime there’s a lot less updrafts in the canopy than at night.

yeah Tex, I suspected that all along. Dresden, I know what you are talking about as well. I’m thinking this particular set of updrafts may have been nerfed since HoT began. I distinctly remember standing on the lip of this little chimney. I’m searching for other ways to get there just to make sure that is not the way I got there originally.

also, speaking of gliding, are the w, a, s and v (stealth gliding) the ONLY keys to be used when gliding ? I just got a Mastery Point in Tangled Depths for staying aloft long enough to access a cloudy node in the central arena. The area is the large confluence (Ley Line Confluence Way Point area) and you can stay aloft indefinitely as long as you have ley line gliding. I’m trying to go up one of those little chimney holes in that area

I think those are the only keys. What do you get from the cloudy node? I noticed it and haven’t gotten into it yet.

i once had lag inside an updraft and when everything started moving again i was catapulted like 40% higher than normally

maybe because the game thought i was inside the updraft longer and thefor had to be pushed up further?

so with lag you can glitch to spots where you are not supposed to be maybe?

You get a Mastery Point…..also, I noticed the Q and E also give flanking moves.

The cloudy node is a mastery point, it’s listed in the TD Achieves section, you get it just by gliding through it. There’s also a mastery point at the end of a super long ley line glide up one of the lane tunnels from the confluence.

Some updrafts definitely show up only at certain times/moments. The most obvious are the large updrafts in the Mouth fight that are there only when you have to get over the coils or at the end to get to the merchant and chest.

Are you sure it wasn’t a large updrafts? Those take you well above the canopy.

it was one of the updrafts in lost precipice GH right at the central WP and i noticed the huge difference because i always take them when doing the big Jumping Puzzles that we built in my Guildhall
and usually it just takes you up the stairs and at that time it took me way higher so i thought it might be because of the lag
