Do people still do the VB meta?
Yes, during NA prime and on weekends.
I am sure you can still find maps with ppl getting to t4 AND killing all the boss’s but might take some time atm i think most are done with hot and are just finishing achievements or map completing
I always try to push maps to get Tier 4. If I get into VB early enough like 20min before the night, I taxi as much as I can and give direction on the map chat (just to make the map appear alive so people stay in the map). It usually work, but not always. There is several way why it doesn’t work.
I’m alone taxing so I can’t taxi enough ppl to full the map before the night. Or I can’t get 1 person to stay in my party so my LFG keep removing itself and soon enough I get block for putting more LFG. Or people don’t spread enough at night so we lose like half the camp while you have like 2-3 mini zerg of 10 peoples.
It’s hard because most people are just lazy. Taxi is the most important thing, but most of the time we just have 2-4 ppl trying to taxi in the map.
The problem is, the reward structure is counter-productive. For starters, people need only 3 chest armor boxes. What many people do need/want as a long term goal, are Airship Parts. Many, many Airship Parts if you’re into the collections.
Last time I was on the map, people were trying for T4, and I was just running around opening Airship Cargo for Airship Parts, that drop 3 at a time with a chance of 25. I wanted 350 of them. No way I’m going to waste my time with the night meta.
A map that’s had a tier 4 day will have a lot of cargo to be opened, which is a great incentive to not participate in the night events. Doing events doesn’t earn you anywhere near the same number of Airship Parts as you get from running around opening cargo.
It’s actually very profitable in terms of Airship Parts to get yourself on a tier 4 by day map and not help making it tier 4 at night. And to add insult to injury, the best time to be around where the canopy bosses spawn, is after they’ve been defeated, so you can sweep up dozens of floating cargo. I had 23 of them at the end of my run.
“But how do you get crowbars?” you ask. Easy! Crank up your participation level by day while there aren’t many Cargo containers yet anyway, keep participation up at night by delivering an occasional Pact Supply while you run around all over the map collecting cargo, and the crowbars will keep arriving in meta reward chests.
Auric Basin and Tangled Depths simply give out their map currencies as part of the meta reward chests, and in significant amounts. A far simpler and more elegant way of handling it. At least it will keep people playing the metas.
You do events for crowbars, not airship parts.
When I do VB, I participate in the meta events including the night ones. I then make sure to tag each boss. I often get 40+ crowbars per cycle plus about a dozen or so of the Nuhoch bags. There’s more than enough time to go through that many crowbars while participating.

That’s what I said, yeah. Events are how you crank up your participation level by day.
You don’t have to do any events at all by night though. Night is for opening cargo, if you’re after Airship Parts.
Participation built by day will keep giving you crowbars all night. And you can, like I said, deliver an occasional Pact Supply when you stumble across one for 5% participation, which isn’t much, but it keeps your participation up. Just like the camp events you pass through.

Ya the reward system for VB isn’t really good. The bladed cost box is only a incentive for 3 runs. After that it’s just a exotic that you can salvage for maybe some ectos. It shouldn’t even be a bladed box that you can choose whatever gear you want because in 1 year, noboby will care about that anyway.
Getting T4 isn’t helped by the broken event in the main camp’s meta which stalls the entire thing .. it was broken on release and in spite of many reports, posts and tickets Anet simply CBA to fix it it seems.
I’m running something like 15:1 broken to working metas over the last couple of weeks.

But crowbars are keys that allow access to the airship parts.
There are times it feels like all people do is roam around waiting to slap Matriarch for 20 solid minutes. Try to get a group for Tetrad and all you get are Mordrem tumbleweeds.

There’s also the raid entrance, so you get raiders taking up space as well (they really just need to make a lobby for them or something).
Also, number of airship parts you get per cargo is paltry when basically everything worth buying at the frog merchant costs 300+ of them. Every cargo should give you 10 parts minimum.

I just got my Tetrad achieve a few days ago. You can dodge the tells and still get blasted back which is totally bull. Matriarch at least has a safety net where you could jump off and glide until she’s done breathing toxic on the platform.
