Does Lane mobs drop portal
According to the game update notes they do.

Mordremoth is stirring, and the nearby areas of Dry Top and the Silverwastes are feeling the effect. All events and creature drops in this area now have a small chance to drop a Portal to the Heart of Maguuma item that will qualify the player’s account for an upcoming Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns™ closed beta test.
ANet may give it to you.
Actually, that quote would mean they do NOT drop them. They have no creature drops.

?
Aren’t mobs and creatures the same? Aren’t mordrem event mobs/creatures?
Edit: found Mordrem under creatures in the wiki

The mobs don’t. But you can still get event chests with successful champion defeats. Someone in North lane got one yesterday after middle lane killed foe.
It says:
- All events
- creature drops
So a creature drop has a chance of also having the portal item. Most event mobs in Silverwaste give no drops, so have no chance. The event chest can contain it, though.
Well, that changes it. I thought they meant that they changed the mobs in there to have the portal as a rare drop

Basically any Morderm that spawns at a fort defense or during VW will not drop it, since they spawn MANY mobs VERY frequently. You CAN get the portal from Mordrem mobs that wander the SW map, or that appear during Bull Supply runs.
You can also get them from regular mobs on the map (Drakes, dust mites, destroyers etc).
Champion chests can drop it and reward chests for events can contain it, too.
These are all the ways I know. As far as I know lab chests will not contain it (but reward chest for completing tiers can), nor do Lost Bandit Chests.
