Q:
Does Race Effect HoT Story?
A:
Playing as a Sylvari will take you through the exact same missions but the dialog will be a little different and there are a few other minor effects and changes you’ll notice. It is mildly more interesting than playing through as another race.
I know during first mission you get sylvari specific dialog/achiement. But I didn’t take my sylvari past that. I do not believe it will alter your story path.
Oh and norn has a little bit of dialog differences in general through HoT aswell.
Hello,
I want to get the expansion but I want to get the most out of the story. I know GW2 doesn’t have the strongest story, especially when comped to the first game, but does race have any effect on the story of the expansion, since the plot seems to be more Sylvari focused? Will playing through the Heart of Throns story be different as say a human or a char, than it would be as a sylvari?Thank you.
I’m very early into my 2nd run with a new toon and it seems the dialogue changes down the line based on your initial choice when you first reach the crash site (saving sylvari prisoners vs. reinforcing the camp)
Well playing a sylvari don’t effect the core story but you do get allot of extra bit’s here and there and one at the end boss fight as well
Think of it as Sylvari and Mord are like Harry potter and Voldemort
As others have said, Sylvari has the greatest changes as you’ll hear the voice of Mordremoth himself in several missions. Some NPCs will also react differently to you.
The other races do have slight dialogue changes (an Asura character, for example, reacts quite differently to a discovery in the Act 2 story compared to other races), but not enough to really change the tone of the mission. It’s more of a “oh cool, this is actually fitting for my race” feeling.
