Such a simple sounding achievement – just drop a mortar on the Mouth of Mordremoth. Ok, no problem.

But, I have tried this now repeatedly and nothing. Is this achievement currently bugged?

Basically, despite being directly overhead the Mouth’s target-box and dropping the mortars, I cannot get this. I was also talking with a commander last night who’s tried this many times as well but to no avail.

Help!

You need to throw the bomb not at the mouth , but at where the marker of the mouth TARGET CROSS is

learned this self just after watching a guide video, i have to do it still self too..

The problem I have with this achievement more is, that it always takes so freaking long just to get from the silly copers that always spam at the butt of the map far away from the mouth ancd get in time back to the mouth, before players beat already the crap out of the mouth either, or the sight is so blocked by the massive body of the mouth, that you can#t really see good enough, when and where you need to throw it before its too late.
another problem is also, that you can lose the bomb when you receive damage, what is really stupid, especialyl when it happens short before you were about to throw …

Its an achievement, where I think it would have been much nice,r if you wouldnt be forced to wait on a silly copter to crash somewhere randomly in midsts of the battle just to get that one bomb.. but instead you should be able to get bombs from all islands from the Golem NPCs quickly and that these bombs shoudl actually be seriously part of the battle, that help also significantly damaging the mouth or stunning it so, that bombing the mouth stops its progress for a short while on eatign the islands giving the other players more time to damage the mouth, before it can destroy the islands

^I definitely agree with your comments above – the randomness of where the copter spawns really adds to the frustration to say the least.

Also, in map chat folks just told me to hit Tab to target mouth and then just press 1. I asked a couple times if that’s all I had to do, and peeps say ‘yeah, pretty much that’s it.’

Ofc, I tried this, and…. nothing! Argh!

Well according to this video, the mortar skill is definitely a ground-target skill, and so tabbing to target the Mouth would be meaningless:

I got it by throwing the bomb on the island instead which is easier to aim. Just hit the island somewhere near the dragon.

You may want to hold it until you have leylin gliding or at least infinite gliding which would make it easier.

And don’t forget to use waypoints if they are closer to copter/dragon. You can wp while holding the mortar.

Finally got it by AoE-targeting the Mouth’s target-box and then throwing the mortar.

So if anyone tells you to ‘just target the Mouth and hit 1’ – wrong!

Also, I didn’t have action-cam enabled when I did it (most prior attempts it was enabled). So I’d recommend not having action-cam on when going for this achievement.

If you open your options panel, there is an option “Snap Ground Target to Current Target” in the Combat/Movement section . Check this prior to the fight, tab-target the mouth and point your mouse in the general area of the target, and the game will automatically center your aoe on your target. This has helped me immensely in actually hitting the mouth.

Other than that it’s down to luck to get a chopper/mouth spawn that you can do and not get hit on the way. Once you have your targeting down, it should only take a few tries to grab the achievement.

While ground targetting is true, i end up with unable to ground target Wyverin Patriarch without targeting the boss itself.
