Posting this one for some players that play the DS meta quite a bit. Issue is that they keep encountering situations where a succeeding DS is being merged into ones that are failing. Is there anyway when the megaserver is rolling population together that it could factor these kinds of things in, any data point that could indicate a more advanced map and move players in that direction versus just to the ones with larger populations if it is combining maps?

It would be really nice if the megaserver worked that way. But people have been asking for this since Dry Top and the Silverwastes were added, and it hasn’t happened yet, as far as I can tell.

Unlike Dragon’s Stand and the other HoT maps, both of those maps even have a single direct indicator of map meta-event progress (Zephyrite Favor and Pact Foothold) which could be used for such a feature. So I’m not too optimistic about the future chances for such a change.

There seems to be a bug in the destroying of maps with HOT Meta events…
As you say if a map has the meta progressing it should not decide to close it and want to port you to a map where the meta is not progressing.

The decision to close maps pre-hot was easy as there was no meta – event chain progression / map reward bonus (except SW).

The problem with a lot of th hot maps like VB/AB/TD is they get a lot of people in for th meta event – do the event and then exit. The map which was full is automatically incorrectly chosen for shutdown. The new map which was created for the people who couldn’t get in is chosen to stay.

I feel the timeout for maps deciding if they should close needs to be increased.
The other aspect which needs to be fixed is a notification that the map will not close (if a pop up appeared with the volunteer bonus).
There does need to be self-destruction sequence cancellation process which is much better than currently exists.

Big thread on Reddit arm about the mega servers and how it’s screwing things up esp with hot maps.

yeah this is happening in auric basin and verdant brink too and it is real bs, stopping me from caring much about the HoT metas (whats the point when you lose participation and get dumped into a failing meta)
