Want to fight Mordremoth, how does this map work? Just loaded in and it seems empty, plus there’s a timer saying map closes in two hours. Do I just start doing the events or what?

That’s the timer for HOT maps. Shortly before Dragon’s Stand is about to start, look in LFG and you should see a bunch of squads forming. Join squad, join map. You’ll be set for the meta.

Do you have to do meta events to unlock the story part? I ask because when I did it I just followed the story markers and it was all instanced personal story all the way to Mordremoth. I assume I just got lucky and did it after a group opened up the way?

There’s an npc who will take you to the story instance at the first waypoint.

I always have to taxi via LFG for DS. I never enter a map that actually has people in it just from porting in. DS is largely a group map. I haven’t heard of anyone soloing all the events and the meta. So, people in the maps seems to really be a thing here.

The story instance and the map meta events are two halves of the same fight.

The game doesn’t explain this well, but lore-wise they take place simultaneously. You personal instance version is you and the NPCs taking on a special mission deep behind enemy lines, which they’re able to do because mordremoth is distracted by the massive battle outside. That massive battle is the one you’re playing fighting the boss battle in DS, the mouth of mordremoth.

That’s also why the mouth dies the way it does. It is affected (conveniently at the end of the meta fight) by the events that transpire as a result of winning the PS fight.

They’re two sides of the same coin. In order to really see the fiht against mordremoth, you’ll want to do both so you can experience both sides of the story.
