For the record, I don’t have any qualms with the name. However I am curious as to how the lore of the Dragonhunter will fit with the Nightmare Court and other factions with alliances to the dragons.

I’m not sure what the relationship is between the Nightmare Court and Mordremoth. The Dragonhunter faction was described as a group of “zealous completely centered upon the eradication of the dragons and their minions.”

The Nightmare Court may not be in conflict with the Dragon, it might even serve them. There are also legions of Sylvari that have joined the dragon.

Does this mean that the Dragonhunter is pact specific and that dragon serving sides will not have access to its capabilities? Will we see enemies or npcs that use Dragonhunter skills against the player?

Does it make sense for Sylvari to become part of the “Dragonhunter” faction if they are minions themselves? Why would they even be accepted?

For instance, if I was a Dragonhunter and a sylvari dragon minion wanted to be pact of my faction of “complete and utter annihilation of all things dragon” then why wouldn’t I put a spear sized arrow of light into his face?

Would it makes sense to have a ton of sylvari Dragonhunters running around?

The presentation of the Dragonhunter raises some interesting questions. I am interesting to see how this is handled from a story point of view.

It doesn’t sound like the Dragonhunter lore will go that in depth. We might get one Dragonhunter NPC at best, probably Braham and then it would be more about the NPC than the specialization. I would be incredibly surprised if the Sylvari conflict with the Dragonhunter is even raised. Given that there are 8 other specializations all vying for equal time, that leaves the Dragonhunter being little more than a footnote in the HoT lore.

This sort of thing will probably be left to fan speculation to decide.

The Nightmare Court doesn’t (as of present lore) have an alliance with any of the Elder Dragons. In fact being dragon minions would be pretty much against their core philosophy (they didn’t want to conform to what the pale tree wanted why would they conform to what Mordy wants?).

Well since as far as I know there is no committee responsible for membership into the Dragonhunter club I think anyone could pretty much call themselves a Dragonhunter if they liked.

I’m going with “Shoot them in the face with searing light until they die” as my Dragonhunter’s immediate gut reaction to an organization committed to spreading pain and despair. Even if they aren’t direct dragon minions, you can’t leave vile filth like that breeding in you back line. It’s unsanitary.

Dragonhunters, now with the power of scrubbing bubbles. Cleans evil ’til it sparkles.

(I’m now calling the trap that leaves Aegis fragments to be picked up my “scrubbing bubbles”. Fear them .)
